Rudiger in Contract Talks with Chelsea

The 28-year-old has been with the Premier League side since the summer of 2017 when he teamed up with the club from AS Roma.

Rudiger has been delivering solid defensive performances since his arrival. The defender has featured in more than 100 games across all competitions and played a key role in helping the Blues win the Champions League title last season.

Tuchel told the club website;

“I hope that we find the solution but it’s not only about coaches and players and what we wish for. In the moment it is between the club, the player and the agent. We hope we can find a solution, because he is playing some excellent football for us. He’s very calm, very focused and none of this is a distraction for him. Sometimes these things need a little bit of time but there is no news on this from my side. I think Toni feels very good at Chelsea.”

In the current campaign, Rudiger has been one of the most consistent players for Chelsea featuring in six games across all competitions. The defender will also be expected to be on parade when the Blues take to the pitch against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday 19th September.

Tuchel Gives Injury Updates on Christian Pulisic and N’Golo Kante Ahead of Tottenham Hotspur Clash

Ahead of Chelsea’s encounter against Tottenham on Sunday, Tuchel has issued injury updates on Christian Pulisic and N’Golo Kante. Both players have been left out of the Blues’ games in recent weeks but will be available to feature against Spurs. Tuchel explained;

“We have no fresh injury concerns. There is good news on Christian Pulisic and N’Golo Kante. Christian is in individual training and is trying to come back as fast as possible to join in with full training. He’s not in the squad this weekend, as the game comes too early for him, but he is working hard on his fitness. N’Golo is back. He’s back in full shape and ready to play on Sunday.”

Chelsea finished fourth in the Premier League last season and will hope to surpass that feat in the 2021-22 campaign.
