Coutinho To Barcelona - Playing for Liverpool
Coutinho To Barcelona An untold Done Deal?

One of the longest running transfer talk comes to an end as Liverpool managed to keep Coutinho at Anfield. This has come to shock for Barcelona fans as they wanted Brazilian to play at Camp Nou.

Heart Of The Matter:

At new conference after transfer windows closed, Barcelona sporting director Robert and director Albert Soler told media that Coutinho was too expensive for them.

“A price of €200m and we decided we wouldn’t do it. That’s an example of the way football is now. This club and this board will not get involved in that, though. What’s happened in the transfer market this summer has taken us to a totally different model of football which we’re not used to,” Soler Added.

“On Friday, after weeks of offers and talks, Liverpool put a price on the player that we wanted [Coutinho],” Soler said in a news conference on Saturday,

“Countries have become the principle agents in the world of football,” he added. “We haven’t wanted to put the club at risk, a club of 150,000 members which is ran responsibly.

“We’re in a market where a goalkeeper has gone for €50m. We won’t get involved in that. We won’t put the club at risk. UEFA and the ECA have to take a decision and reflect on what’s going on.”

Barcelona was chasing Philippe Coutinho entire Summer as they look to add depth to their midfield but this turned out to be one of the most difficult transfer for them as Liverpool rejected each and every bid of them.

Coutinho also wanted a move to Spanish club as he handed transfer request last month and was confident to join Barcelona.

Author’s Take:

Well A price of €200m is not what Coutinho worth but this was coming a long ago when every club saw €222m of Neymar’s sell went into Barcelona’s Accounts.Barcelona board knew Neymar will leave so they had chance to sign some replacements before clubs increase their player’s prices. This is also what happened in Dembele’s Transfer.
