Henrikh Mkhitaryan is Arsenal’s new Gunner

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has ended his time at Manchester United, with the winger joining Arsenal on the same day Chilean striker Alexis Sanchez was making the reverse trip.

The transfer has been churning around in rumour mill for a long time. Arsenal are said to have been keeping a close eye on the Armenian throughout the season.

Mkhitaryan will be breathing a sigh of relief, following a season seeing him rarely start for the Manchester side. He arrived from the Bundesliga’s Borussia Dortmund in 2016 for a £30 million fee.

Mikhitaryan becomes the new weapon in Wenger’s Arsenal

The Armenian star was seen as an integral part of Manchester United’s plan for a Premier League resurgence. While his initial performances were showing potential, he fell out of favour with Jose Mourinho.

Mkhitaryan has played for Pyunik in Armenia, Metalurh Donetsk, Shakhtar Donetsk and Borussia Dortmund. It was particularly in the Bundesliga, he made his name as one of Europe’s top midfielders.

Mkhitaryan’s newest club Arsenal are delighted with the transfer and will be hoping to utilise his talents. Re-entry to the Champion’s League, is key ambition for the North London side. The midfielder is expected to play a pivotal role in the club’s campaign.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will be looking to strengthen his strike force, following the announcement that Alexis Sanchez has signed for the very club from which Mkhitaryan has arrived. News which will have come as no surprise to club and fans.
