Manchester City Face West Ham United In A High-Stakes Game
Manchester City
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side have won four of their last five games, their only loss coming to Crystal Palace. The Manchester side has more clean sheets than any other side in the Premier League except Chelsea. Both sides have eight clean sheets this season and have been proven very difficult to break down.
Manchester City don’t rely on a single player when it comes to scoring goals. The entire team contributes to the scoring including the likes of Riyad Mahrez, Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden and many more. Despite all these world-class forwards, Joao Cancelo has been the star player for Manchester City this season. The Portuguese full-back has been the centre of all creativity. He has pushed higher up on the wings as well as playing over-the-top crosses to the attackers. He’s made himself undroppable after his recent games and will be someone who West Ham will have to watch out for.
The Premier League champions are coming off a huge midweek win over PSG. Despite conceding first, goals from Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus gave them the win as they secured the top spot in their group. Confidence will be high and West Ham will have to be at their best to get a result.
West Ham United
Only 18 months ago, David Moyes’ position as West Ham United manager was hanging by a thread. However, he managed to turn things around and now has his side playing some of the best football in all of England. West Ham have won four of their last five games including their 3-2 win against Liverpool. The Hammers have shown they aren’t afraid to go toe-to-toe with the top teams and won’t be an easy opponent for Guardiola’s side.
Michail Antonio was David Moyes’ main man at the start of the season. The 31-year-old striker was scoring goal after goal for the Hammers but his form has dipped significantly. He has only managed one goal in his last six league appearances and will be desperate to contribute more going forward. West Ham will be looking to bounce back from a narrow 1-0 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers which dropped them down to 4th in the table.
The Hammers beat Rapid Wien 2-0 in the Europa League and will advance to the knockout stages of the competition. Moyes will wish his side can build some momentum and a result away from home to Manchester City would be a huge result.
