Manchester City are looking at England captain Harry Kane to replace Sergio Aguero and recently broke the British transfer record when they signed Jack Grealish for £100 million.
That transfer was supposed to be the most viral discussion of this season. however, a day later Lionel Messi stole the show when he confirmed his departure from Barcelona. To make it even worse, Chelsea has agreed to a deal with Inter Milan for Romelu Lukaku which is potentially more than what they paid for Grealish.
Harry Kane has always been on their radar since the player showed his interest in leaving Tottenham Hotspur. City’s stance for a striker is known, but that move was deemed impossible after they bought the English midfielder. However, the latest reports suggest otherwise. And for a club that has plenty of money, they are looking extremely confident.
Manchester City Looking to Sign Harry Kane
Kane and Tottenham Are Not on Good Terms
Harry Kane has been nothing but a loyal player of the club. Having spent his whole career with the London side, he developed himself into one of the world’s best strikers. It is clearly evident from his achievements. However, he has not been able to achieve what most of the strikers accomplish, the trophies.
As surprising as it may sound, the club has not won a single title since Kane became a regular. His hunger for silverware which he has been patiently waiting for has made him make this tough choice. After which there has been nothing but chaos.
The 28-year-old striker created unrest when he did not appear for training on August 2. Tottenham had reported that a strict fine will be imposed on the player, which created more unrest. The player is frustrated with the club handling the situation poorly. He posted a statement regarding the situation and has rejoined the training on 6th August.
Tottenham Already Prepared With an Alternative?
Kane’s importance is well known and the club will no way want to lose him. Tottenham have been trying their best so far. However, the latest reports suggest that the Lillywhites have agreed on a bid for Milan’s Lautauro Martinez.
They have regularly been updated with the Argentinian’s situation and have recently agreed to splash money in the region of £60 million. However, his role remains unclear. It is rumoured that his arrival is to replace the departing striker. But, the club is said to be planning to play him alongside the Englishman.
Will City Be Able to Afford Kane This Summer?
This is a question that does not have a proper answer. Manchester City is in dire need of a striker. They only have Gabriel Jesus up front. Although there haven’t been many struggles without a proper goalscorer, City would not deny the opportunity to bolster the attack by adding a world-renowned striker.
However, the possibility of the move this summer is uncertain. Having splashed £100 million on Grealish, the club’s funds might be dry. But, they are still trying to land him. Waiting for another year will open the doors for many other clubs to compete for the player.
If the latest reports are to be true, Manchester City is willing to splash a humongous £150 million to land him. Tottenham’s chairman, Daniel Levy wasn’t budging from his expectations of £160 million. But it looks like the above deal which includes add-ons has changed his mind. Nothing has been official yet, but we can prepare ourselves for one of the biggest deals in football history.
