Ozil eyes Manchester United move
Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil wants a move to Manchester United. He has already told his Arsenal teammates, the Daily Mirror claims.
The Gunners look set to sell unsettled German International Ozil in the January transfer window. His contract runs out this summer. He would then leave for free, which Arsenal will want to avoid.
Ozil signed from Real Madrid in 2013, breaking then Arsenal club record of £42.4m. Rejecting interest from former United manager David Moyes, who was keen on the midfielder.
Out of favour at Arsenal, he’s made no secret of his discontent. He didn’t appear in their Europa League 1-0 win against Red Star Belgrade on Thursday.
Ozil has, according to a report in Metro, also spoken of his frustration over Wengers’ “failure to significantly improve the squad”.
Despite breaking club records to sign Alexandre Lacazette for £52.7 million this sumer. There was also acquisition of Sead Kolasinac from Shalke on a free transfer. Not enough for Ozil.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has publically admitted it’s likely 29 year old midfielder Ozil will be sold. Teammate Alexis Sanchez is also out of contract in May.
.He said “Once you are in our kind of situation we have envisaged every kind of solution. Yes its possible, yes”
Mezut Ozils’ agent hinted Ozil wants to stay in the premiership. Manchester City were keen to sign him last season.
United boss Jose Mourinho has never hidden his admiration for troubled star Ozil. He managed Ozil whilst manager of of Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Fenerbahçe want Mesut Ozil
Rumours of a swoop from Turkish Fenerbahçe also emerged. Ozil, born in and plays for Germany, but has Turkish descent. He recently admitted being fond of the Istanbul club.
Turkish media outlet Sporx revealed Fenerbahçe bosses will pay highly to employ the Arsenal star. More recently he was linked to a Bernabeu return.
However, the Manchester United shirt is what Mesut Ozil wants.
Jose Mourinho will relish signing Ozil from Arsene Wenger. The managers have clashed previously.
