Ralf Rangnick Faces Huge Task at Manchester United

17 Players Unhappy

Rangnick held face-to-face player meetings with his squad and became aware that a staggering amount of 17 players are unhappy. It has been a challenging season for the players so far with the poor set of results under Ole Gunner Solskjaer and now playing under a new management but this does not excuse their lack of professionalism. The idea that players are struggling to adapt to the new coaching methods implemented by the management is unacceptable. United fans are one of the most loyal fanbases one will find when it comes to defending players. In terms of players applying themselves professionally, this should not be a topic for conversation at a club of this magnitude. Ole Gunner Solskjaer previously stated in one of his post-match interviews that these players are the “luckiest players in the world and they know it”. The first part of his statement is correct but the manner in which the players are performing on the pitch and their unprofessional attitude off the pitch suggests they do not know how lucky they are.

Dressing Room Cliques

One of the many reports that have surfaced over the past week is that there is a divide in the dressing room and small cliques have been formed. Luke Shaw stated after the Wolves game he did not feel the players were “together” on the pitch. This could well be the result of the cliques. Lack of game time has also frustrated players and it is understood fringe players are ready to leave the club this transfer window. Cristiano Ronaldo is said to have been shocked how far the standards have dropped at the club and it is understood senior players like Harry Maguire are frustrated with the nature of his criticism towards them. Ronaldo has shared dressing rooms with serial winners, he is set to kick up a fuss when he feels fellow teammates are not giving maximum effort. It is indeed a shame that there are not more players of Ronaldo’s ilk in that dressing room.
