Sergio Aguero has announced he will be leaving Manchester City after his contract is set to expire at the end of the season. It spells an end of an era for City as Aguero joins Vincent Kompany, David Silva and Yaya Toure by moving on to pastures new.
Sergio Aguero Leaving Manchester City at the End of the Season
Difficult Season
With a combination of injuries and playing time, it has been a rough season for Aguero. He typically tweeted after a Manchester City victory. However, after seeing Pep Guardiola had moved on from him the inevitable departure loomed.
The last straw was his expression after the Champions League Borussia Monchengladbach game. His teammates were not passing him the ball and looked heart-broken walking off the pitch. Despite all of that he said: “ I will continue to give my utmost for the rest of the season to win more titles and joy to the fans.” This exemplifies his love and dedication to the club.
He’s different from other footballers who demand to be moved when they don’t play enough. Aguero wanted to say but Guardiola and chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak decided against offering him a new contract. A fitting departure is winning the Champions League for Aguero and scoring the winner. He should be the first player to lift the trophy.
Manchester City is hoping fans will be able to attend their final home game against Everton. So, the fans can thank their best player ever to step on the pitch for Manchester City and amongst the best in the Premier League.

Poorly Treated
For a player who contributed so much to the club, the lack of playing time is tough to watch. Never was it more apparent than the Manchester Derby when Manchester City quickly went down 1-0 because of a Gabriel Jesus foul and later 2-0.
The Argentine forward looked disappointed sitting in the stands. A striker is needed facing a deficit like that and it was more painful knowing they were going to lose the derby because of Guardiola’s stubbornness.
Manchester City has been playing with a false nine most of the season which means no striker. However, the 32-year old has not been given enough playing time to prove his worth to the club. It would not be shocking to see Aguero net 20 goals if he joins Barcelona. He deserves better and to a club that allows him to show his brilliance on the pitch.
Aguero’s Future
The best-case scenario would be for him to join Barcelona alongside his best friend Lionel Messi. A reunion of Argentine teammates. Also, he would get to share the pitch with David Silva when Barcelona faces Real Sociedad. Two of the players that laid the foundations for what City is today facing off in La Liga even though they still have the quality to play in Manchester.
Other viable options would be Paris Saint Germain and Juventus. All three of these football clubs share one thing in common which is he would be able to link up with fellow international teammates and friends. Messi for Barcelona whose own future looms in the air, Paulo Dybala for Juventus and Angel Di Maria and Mauro Icardi and Leandro Paredes for Paris Saint-Germain. Playing with your friends would be a proper way for Aguero to finish his career. Wherever he goes Manchester City and their fans will be forever grateful for what he did for the club.
