Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is optimistic of an Edouard Mendy return from injury against Manchester City for the Premier League game on Saturday 25th September.
The Senegal international has been out of action since suffering a knock against Zenit St Petersburg in a UEFA Champions League game last week meaning he missed the Blues 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday 19th September.

Thomas Tuchel Gives Mendy Injury Update
Mendy will also not feature for Chelsea when they take on Aston Villa in a League Cup tie on Wednesday but Tuchel hopes the goalkeeper will be ready to take on the Lilywhites.
In a press conference, Tuchel said;
“Saturday is possible but it’s a race against pain and a race against time. I hope he will be back in team training on Thursday and if this goes well he can be ready for Saturday, but I don’t know right now.”
Tuchel has also revealed his intention to make changes to his side for their encounter against Aston Villa as he looks to give more playing time to some of his fringe players.
“There will be some changes because we take the opportunity to give important minutes in an important competition to guys who are missing the minutes at the moment,” he continued.”
Mendy to Continue Fine Form
Mendy has been in top form since joining Chelsea in the summer of 2019 from Rennes and last season he played a significant role as the Blues won the Champions League.
The Senegal international has made more than 35 appearances across all competitions and his consistencies have seen him remain the Blues’ first-choice goalkeeper under Tuchel.
Mendy spent most of his career in France playing for Cherbourg, Marseille, Reims and Rennes before his move to the Premier League.
Chelsea will be looking to surpass last seasons fourth placed finish in the Premier League table.
