Club América Predicted Lineup: Quarterfinal 1st Leg

They say the soccer gods always present you with an opportunity for revenge. For Club América, that opportunity is coming just one week after being eliminated by Pachuca in the Concacaf Champions Cup. Las Águilas have been presented with another chance to finally break this wretched Hidalgo curse. After a poor performance in the Champions Cup, the players will look at the series as an opportunity to remind the fans and the rest of the league why they are the raining champions.

Club América Predicted Lineup Vs Pachuca: Quarterfinal 1st Leg

How Club América Have Lined Up Recently

Manager André Jardine has continued to use his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation. This game will see no difference in that department. The issue with that has been that the team has been somewhat predictable. After their exit in the Champions Cup, their games against Pachuca left many questioning this team and their ability to adapt to matches. Even though the majority of the success for América has come through said formation, changing tactics and approach to the game could be vital. Ensuring that the team finds that winning formula once again.

Club América Recent Form and Tactics

The team has been on a steady decline for over two weeks now. After suffering a loss to Pumas back on April 20, the team has yet to fully bounce back. Not to mention the painful exit of the Champions Cup in the semifinals. The only way to salvage the remaining of the season will be by crowning themselves champions once again in Liga MX. Maybe then will the void of not winning the Champions Cup be potentially filled. A task that will not be easy to do as they will have to once again face Pachuca in a knockout tie. This time the team will have high hopes of reverting the past and coming out on top.

What will need to be different is the approach Jardine uses in this match. In the Champions Cup semifinal tie the team appeared flat and out of ideas going forward. With a need to break Pachuca’s defense down, Jardine may opt into pushing Álvaro Fidalgo more forward in hopes of unlocking the defense. The only downside to this would mean Jonathan Dos Santos would be left alone on island in the midfield. Being tasked to recover everything in the midfield with little to no help around him. A risk that might just pay dividend for Jardine if it all pans out according to plan.

Club América Injuries to Consider

The team was dealt a huge blow this past week after Sebastián Cáceres went down with an injury against Pachuca in the Semifinals of the Champions Cup. After medical exams it was determined Cáceres injury was a medial meniscus injury. Ruling him out for the remainder of the season, with hopes of being fit just in time for this summers Copa America. An injury that surly will impact the team as Cáceres was by the far the best defender this season. Filling in for him will most notably be Ramón Juárez. The 22-year old will have big shoes to fill in such a critical series as América look to reach the final and crown themselves champions again.
