Most Spurs fans will agree that Harry Kane has been hitting the headlines with his record-breaking year in 2017 but Heung-Min Son‘s brilliant run of form has gone unnoticed by rival fans. Why?
Heung-Min Son’s breakthrough at Tottenham took longer than many fans expected. The Korean has just started to cement his place in the first team. When you see how long Son has been in North London compared to the games he has started, then you understand why not many people rate him.
Tottenham’s Unsung Hero: Heung-Min Son
Even though, Spurs winger has struggled consistently to impact the first team but even when he took his chances. The 25-year-old has been influential for this Spurs side.
Is Heung Min-Son the unsung hero of the Premier League? Answer is Yes!
South-Korean international has enjoyed a successful first half of the season. Scoring eight premier league goals and three goals in the Champions League. Is Son the league’s most underrated player?
Tottenham supporters previously thought Son struggled with his fitness for 90 minutes. So he was used off the bench, as a super-sub.
However, many Spurs fans could easily own up now and say they were wrong with Heung-Min Son playing the whole match in the last four games. The last few matches, 25-year-old has been involved in two goals in the last 10 minutes. He grabbed a late winner against West Ham to gain a point. From the whole of a season, he has been involved in four goals since the start of August. (All competitions)
From August, Heung-Min Son has really improved his fitness to last the whole 90 minutes, and with that he has finally cemented his place in the starting eleven.
Give him a break
Sonny has given Tottenham something different when going forward, with that little extra pace and quality in the final third. So how has he compared against the best in Premier League?
Eden Hazard, who is world class player, usually hits the wall in some games and still goes unnoticed by the media. But Heung-Min Son has just been as impressive as the Chelsea winger but rarely gets the plaudits.
Since the start of 2015/16 season, Son is the sixth player most involved in goals. The Spurs winger created a total of 35 goals since last campaign, 22 goals and 13 assists. Hazard has only created 29 goals, 22 goals and 7 assists, even with playing more than 800 more minutes.
Why do we not put him in the same bracket as the best in the Premier League? Tottenham are not title challengers, Sonny struggled to make the team at the start but he has been a top player this season.
