Liverpool and Manchester United’s contrasting current fortunes are quite evident

It started with Jurgen Klopp assuming the charge of Liverpool almost a decade ago. Liverpool had been experiencing a 25-year-long Premier League title drought at that point in time. Klopp ushered in some fresh energy and a number of quality signings to change the scenario gradually.

Within five years, Klopp won a Premier League title, Liverpool’s first in three decades, and a UEFA Champions League title to etch his name in the annals of the club’s history forever. He could have won a few more titles had it not been for Pep Guardiola’s brilliant Manchester City side which won six Premier League titles and a UCL in eight years.

When Arne Slot took over from Klopp, the pressure on him was huge, as he had to follow in the footsteps of a legendary manager. However, on the positive side, he inherited a very capable squad from the German.

Slot did his work commendably well and went on to win Liverpool’s 20th league title by beating Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 at Anfield last Sunday, April 27.

The Reds now have an insurmountable 15-point lead over Arsenal, which shows the kind of dominance they have had this season.

Manchester City have endured a below-par season by their lofty standards, but it is the plight of Manchester United that deserves special mention. With pundits’ harsh criticisms and bettors taking advantage of $10 deposit casino sites to bet against the Red Devils, it’s not hard to discern that the club is going through a very difficult stretch.

Manchester United Now Share Premier League Title Record With Liverpool

Liverpool and Manchester United have now both won 20 league titles, which means that Liverpool’s six Champions League titles against United’s three make them the most successful English club undoubtedly.

What is more pathetic for the Manchester United supporters is that their team is nowhere near winning the league title and are languishing in the 14th position.

On the same day that Liverpool achieved the historical feat, Manchester United managed to salvage a 1-1 draw against a 10-man AFC Bournemouth.

One cannot be too harsh on Ruben Amorim, who has inherited a lot of problems and is yet to get a transfer window, but the performances are nowhere near satisfactory.

United’s glory days in the 1990s and 2000s coincided with Liverpool’s dark period. However, the tables have been turned firmly at the moment.

A flurry of inept managerial decisions and forgettable signings have neutralized the great work Sir Alex Ferguson did to give Manchester United the edge over Liverpool.

United have already endured a 12-year-long barren spell in terms of winning the league title. They are not in a position to play in the UEFA Champions League, let alone win it.

With Slot proving himself to be a no-nonsense manager, it seems pretty certain that Liverpool are going to be much ahead of their erstwhile arch-rivals considerably in the near future.

Unless some major changes are brought about in the structure and the mode of functioning of the club, the glory days might not return anytime soon for the Red Devils.

One feels kind of sorry for Sir Alex and his famous players, who are being compelled to see their club’s current plight with heavy hearts.
