Current Mason Mount Form and How Important It Is for Manchester United

The current Mason Mount form is encouraging for Manchester United. The English midfielder, who will turn 27 in January, has been having a redemption of sorts at Manchester United this season.

Mount’s stint at United has been plagued with injuries so far. However, things are looking up for him this season and he has come really close to securing his place in the starting XI. The improved Mason Mount form is one of the reasons why Manchester United have been performing better this season.

Mason Mount Form Gives Ruben Amorim More Options Upfront

Erik ten Hag made the cardinal mistake of playing Mount as a defensive midfielder, and the Englishman looked out of sorts quite naturally. Amorim has been playing Mount behind the striker in a 3-4-2-1, which has improved his productivity as a player. However, Mount had some serious injury issues last season, which sidelined him for quite a while.

Amorim has also shown enough faith in Mount, who registered almost 200 appearances for Chelsea before coming to United and winning a UEFA Champions League title with them as well. In comparison, the Englishman has played in 60 matches for the Red Devils so far and scored seven goals for them, which include three goals scored in 13 matches this season.

Mount is into his seventh season in Premier League football and can be considered reasonably experienced. He definitely has the pedigree as a footballer. However, with United having Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko upfront, it has not always been easy for him to break into the starting XI.

Sesko’s off-form and a good Mason Mount form has allowed the latter to play in a considerable number of matches for the Red Devils this season. Playing behind the striker is an ideal opportunity for him to shine and make his presence count in the team. However, he cannot afford to be complacent and should keep the good work going for his team.

Mason Mount Form Should Help United Do Better

United are in sixth position in the Premier League table at the moment. Qualifying for European football next season will definitely be in Amorim’s mind, especially given that United are not playing continental football this season.

Manchester United will play AFC Bournemouth and Aston Villa in their next two matches in the Premier League. The match against Villa at Villa Park is likely to be very tough for them, as Unai Emery’s men are in very good form at the moment.

Mount should continue to deliver for his team, however. It is evident from the stats that United have done better when Mount has started for them this season. Hence, the 26-year-old has emerged as a key player for his current club.

It is very important that Amorim keeps faith in him. United’s front-three are very important for them to succeed and Mount’s ability to press high and combine with the other two remains one of the key components in his team’s game.

It remains to be seen whether the rejuvenated Englishman can continue to deliver for Manchester United. As of now, the improved Mason Mount form is good news for the United supporters.
