Another Benjamin Sesko Goal Justifies His Signing for Manchester United

Another Benjamin Sesko goal led Manchester United to a 1-0 victory over Everton on Monday, February 23.

United now have 48 points from 27 matches and are fourth on the Premier League table. The Red Devils have won five of their six matches since Michael Carrick took charge as interim and are one of the in-form teams in the league.

The Benjamin Sesko goal came in the 71st minute of the match to pave the way for United’s victory. The Slovenian forward has been justifying his signing ever since Carrick took charge. He is one of the in-form strikers in the league at the moment.

Benjamin Sesko Goal: Immediate Impact off the Bench Again

Bryan Mbeumo started as the No.9 for the Red Devils on Monday night, as Sesko started yet another match on the bench. However, he came on as a substitute later and scored the match-winner, just like he had earlier scored one against West Ham United to steal a point.

The Benjamin Sesko goal against Everton took his season’s tally to eight goals in 24 matches, which is a decent return, especially given the fact that he has not often started for the club and has had a slow start to the season.

There must have been some valuable input from Carrick as well, which have caused Sesko to perform better under the Englishman. Whatever the reasons might have been, the Manchester United supporters will not be complaining at all.

Will Sesko Continue To Work as a Super-Sub?

Despite the Benjamin Sesko goal against Everton, the Slovenian is not guaranteed to start for the Red Devils. That is simply because each of Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Amad Diallo has been in very good form.

Mbeumo is the only United player with goal in double digits this season despite playing in only 23 matches so far. Cunha has six goals and two assists in 26 matches and has demonstrated great work rate for the club. Amad has performed really well as the right-winger and therefore, Mbeumo has been starting as the centre-forward instead of on the right flank.

Hence, despite the Benjamin Sesko goal against Everton, he should start on the bench in Manchester United’s next match as well. As of now, that remains a pity, because it presents the Slovenian with less time to impress as a striker.

Tough Fixtures Ahead

The Red Devils will face Crystal Palace. Palace are a dangerous team despite their recent form not being very good.

Manchester United will then face Newcastle United and Aston Villa in their next two league matches. Both Newcastle and Villa are in contention to finish inside the top eight of the Premier League table by the end of the season. Villa, in fact, are in the race to earn one of the UEFA Champions League spots next season.

Therefore, Carrick should find it really difficult to maintain his good run in the next three matches. If he is to do that, Sesko will have to continue his good run upfront. Given his ability, he should not have much difficulty in doing that.
