Joao Pedro Hattrick Against Aston Villa Gives Chelsea Some Hope

A Joao Pedro hattrick against Aston Villa guided Chelsea towards an emphatic 4-1 win in a Premier League match on Wednesday, March 4. The Joao Pedro hattrick also elevated Chelsea to the fifth position in the league table with 48 points in 29 matches.

The Royal Blues thus remain in contention for a spot in the UEFA Champions League next season. However, it is Joao Pedro’s form that will give Liam Rosenior some satisfaction and assurance.

Joao Pedro Hattrick Came After Aston Villa Had Taken an Early Lead

The Joao Pedro hattrick was scored after Aston Villa got an early lead. Cole Palmer scored the other Chelsea goal to complete a big triumph for the visitors at Villa Park. Pedro has now scored 17 goals in 38 matches for the Blues in his first season with the club. Prior to that, he had scored 30 goals in 70 matches for Brighton, his previous club.

The 24-year-old Brazilian has mostly played as a lone striker in a 4-2-3-1 formation, which is a bit different from his role at Brighton, where he mostly played as a No. 10. Pedro took some time to get adjusted to his new role, but has really performed well since then.

Pedro is quite a skillful player and used to enjoy the space he gets in the opposition half. However, his finishing abilities have improved this season and he is now heading towards becoming a complete striker.

Palmer has scored 10 goals this season so far and the number would have gone further up had he not been injured. Together, Pedro and Palmer have often troubled the opposition defence and contributed towards a number of Chelsea’s wins.

The Joao Pedro hattrick is his first in the Premier League and one will hope that it is the first of many. The Brazilian is one of the most in-form strikers in the league at the moment. Pedro was signed for an amount of £60 million, and it has proved to be a very useful one for them.

Chelsea Have a Few Key Matches Coming Up

The Royal Blues will face Wrexham at FA Cup this weekend. They will then take on defending champions Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League in the middle of this month.

The Joao Pedro hattrick will give Rosenior some hope with regard to the upcoming matches for his club. The Brazilian will have to keep scoring goals for his club if they are to do well in multiple championships.

Pedro will also have the upcoming World Cup in mind. He has earned six caps for the Brazilian national team, but is yet to score a goal for the Selecao. He will hope that he will be able to score his first goal for his country in this year’s World Cup.

However, the immediate thing in the Brazilian’s mind should be to perform for Chelsea and help his team finish the season on a high. Pedro’s recent string of performances suggest that he should be able to live up to the expectations of his club. It remains to be seen whether he is able to keep performing at his current level.
