France’s Attack Shows Why Les Bleus Are the Team To Beat at the 2026 World Cup

France’s attacking might is a thing to marvel at. The French are spoilt for top-class choices upfront, which is evident from their goal-scoring record in recent international friendlies.

France’s attack have scored two or more goals in each of their last eight international matches. France beat Brazil 2-1 and Colombia 3-1 in their most recent set of friendlies, which means that they are firmly among the favourites for the upcoming World Cup.

France’s Attack

Les Blues have Kylian Mbappe, Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele, Michael Olise, Rayan Cherki, Desire Doue, Hugo Ekitike and Marcus Thuram as options in their forward line.

Mbappe is one of the modern-day greats with an exceptional scoring record in his club career and 56 goals in 96 caps for France.

Michael Olise, the Bayern Munich right-winger, is probably the best player in the world in his position. Olise has a staggering 16 goals and 23 assists in 39 matches for Bayern this season, meaning that he averages either a goal or an assist every match for the German giants.

Dembele and Doue helped Paris Saint-Germain win the treble in grand manner last season, with the former winning the Ballon d’Or.

Ekitike has been Liverpool‘s best player alongside with Dominik Szoboszlai in his debut season for the Reds. Cherki has done really well for Manchester City since joining Pep Guardiola’s team and has emerged as one of the most skilful players in the Premier League at the moment.

Thuram is in his third season for Inter Milan and has scored 45 goals for the Italian giants. However, he is probably going to be used as a substitute only in the World Cup for Les Bleus.

Having such awesome talent upfront shows the extent of France’s attacking might. With the exception of Brazil, no other country in the world boasts such a flurry of exciting attacking players.

Can France Win the 2026 World Cup?

With a midfield comprising Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga, and a defence that has Ibrahima Konate, Dayot Upamecano, William Saliba, Jules Kounde and Malo Gusto, the French are strong all-round.

The French have reached the final of each of the last two editions of the World Cup, winning the trophy in 2018 and narrowly missing out in 2022. There is a considerable chance for France to become the first country since West Germany (1982-1990) to reach three consecutive World Cup finals.

Other contenders like Spain, Argentina, Brazil and Germany will be there, but France’s attacking prowess makes them the team to beat.

Didier Deschamps, who won the World Cup and the European Championships as the French captain, will be in a good position to win his second World Cup title as a manager.

The likes of Mbappe, Olise, Dembele, et al should play a key role in that, if it is to happen in July. However, France will have to play well as a unit, as they have in recent times.

France’s attack might help their latest golden generation of players deserve a World Cup of their own, with the previous one already having enjoyed success.
