Last week, Piotr Zielinski’s record count in the Serie A saw another entry added as the Polish midfielder became the first Pole to score 50 goals in the Italian top flight.
The highest scoring Polish player in the Serie A, Zielinski, has been a revolutionary for Poland in the Serie A, as the 31-year-old has spent most of his footballing career plying his trade in Italy.
His transfer to Inter Milan from Napoli on a free transfer in 2024 had everyone in Naples in shock and tears, after a magical eight-year stint with Gli Azzurri.
However, for Zielinski, the move to the San Siro has seen the Polish magician go from strength to strength, being an integral part of Inter’s side that is charging towards another Scudetto.
Piotr Zielinski’s record count continues to multiply, alongside his trophy count, as the midfielder eyes only his second Serie A title in his marvellous Italian journey.
Piotr Zielinski’s Record: Inter Milan Midfielder Hits 50 Serie A Goals
The record-breaking goal flew in last week as Inter beat Cagliari 3-0 to put them even closer to returning the Scudetto back to the San Siro.
Zielinski’s trademark thunderous efforts from outside the box have taken Serie A and Italy by storm, as he has managed seven goals in all competitions, his best tally since the 2021/22 season.
Known for his creativity, intricate passing and his dribbling prowess, Piotr Zielinski’s record highlights that Inter head coach, Cristian Chivu, has turned the Polish midfielder into somewhat of a secret weapon from outside the box.
At the age of 31, many fans around Italy may have been thinking that Zielinski’s good years had passed; however, the highest scoring Polish player in the Serie A has other ideas.
Inter boast great midfielders with the likes of Hakan Calhanoğlu, Nicolo Barella, Davide Frattesi, and the experienced Henrikh Mkhitaryan, but in an ageing and leggy midfield, Zielinski has thrived, been consistent, and has shown fans that he is not done in Italian football.
Piotr Zielinski’s Record: Inter Chasing The Scudetto
After failing to retain the Scudetto in the 2024/25 season, missing out on the Serie A title by a single point, the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League Finalists, Inter, look poised to scoop the honour of the Italian top flight this season.
Their immensely experienced side, with ex-player Cristian Chivu now as the head coach, lead the way at the top of the Serie A table, 12 points clear of second-place and last season’s winners Napoli.
Boasting one of the smallest and oldest squads, Chivu has worked wonders with the ageing squad and has utilised a three-at-the-back formation to perfection.
The striking partnership of Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram have combined for almost 30 Serie A goals this season, as the former leads the way in the goalscoring charts in the Serie A.
Approaching the 80-goal mark in the league, they are a long way from breaking the record for the number of goals scored in a single Serie A season, but the importance of sharing the goals around is what has made them so tough to beat.
Piotr Zielinski’s record highlights the Polish midfielder’s importance in the Inter squad as one of the high-scoring midfielders in the team, second to Calhanoğlu, who has scored nine goals in the Serie A this season.

Piotr Zielinski’s Record: The Polish Magician Still Has Plenty Left In The Tank
With still a handful of games left in the club season, Piotr Zielinski’s record suggests that after his injury troubles at the end of last season, the Polish midfielder is back to his best.
He may be a long way from reaching his tally of eight goals and 11 assists that he achieved for Napoli in the 2020/21 season in the Serie A, but he has been able to get back to playing football consistently once more.
In his peak years for Napoli, Zielinski played in nearly every single Serie A game during the season and amassed over 2,000 minutes on the pitch.
During his last season in Naples, that number dipped below the 2,000 mark and he could barely reach 1,000 minutes in his first season as an Inter Milan player.
However, as he has slowly returned to full match fitness and sharpness, he has become an integral part of this Inter side that is looking to reclaim the Scudetto.
Nearing the 2,000-minute mark in the Serie A once more, Piotr Zielinski’s record shows that his goalscoring greatness and his immense ability will put him down as one of the best Polish players ever and certainly the best Polish player in the Serie A.
