The Bernardo Silva Barcelona signing could soon become a reality, as per recent reports. The Portuguese midfielder has left Manchester City after having spent close to a decade at the club, winning 20 trophies in the process.

Now, the Bernardo Silva Barcelona signing is going to make him a Barca player for the next two years, reportedly.

Bernardo Silva was one of Pep Guardiola’s most reliable players during his stint at Manchester City. Now, it is time for him to shine at a different club with the same philosophy of football that he embodied at Manchester City.

Bernardo Silva Barcelona Signing: A Free Agent Steal For The Catalan Giants

The Bernardo Silva Barcelona signing, if it happens, will provide the Catalan club with a very hard-working midfielder.

The Portuguese midfielder played in 460 matches for the Cityzens and scored 76 goals for them. However, during the last few seasons at the club, Bernardo Silva shunned his attacking instincts to fall back and play as a defensive midfielder mostly, which allowed his team to maintain its style of football.

The 31-year-old often partnered with Rodri in the double-pivot in Manchester City’s 4-2-3-1 during the said period of time.

He played as a right-winger or a central attacking midfielder in his initial years at the club, but, as he matured as a player, he was used more and more as a player who kept the shape and form by being in a deeper midfield role.

Barcelona already have a few players like that in the form of Pedri, Frenkie De Jong, Dani Olmo and Fermin Lopez. All of them are capable of playing short passes in the midfield to create moves, and the Bernardo Silva Barcelona signing will be another addition to that category of players.

However, getting into the starting XI might not be easy for Bernardo Silva. Barcelona have several quality midfielders in their line-up, and this means that even despite the Bernardo Silva Barcelona signing, he is by no means assured of a place in the starting XI.

Barcelona have won the La Liga title in each of the last two seasons, but the UEFA Champions League title has eluded them for the last 11 years. With the Bernardo Silva Barcelona signing, the Catalans will hope that they will be in a better position to win the European crown.

Former Manchester City Players That Have Made The Switch To Barca In The Past

The likes of Ilkay Gundogan and Joao Cancelo have played for Barcelona in the past after moving on from Manchester City. Cancelo is still a Barcelona player, and Bernardo Silva’s inclusion will mean that another player coached by Guardiola will join Camp Nou.

Bernardo Silva was a quintessential Pep Guardiola player, who kept fighting hard to win back possession and then recycled it. As a result, Barca should benefit from his inclusion in the team.

If Bernardo Silva can help the Catalans win a European title, he should be feeling satisfied as a player as well. The Portuguese midfielder has won the UEFA Champions League as a Manchester City player, but winning it with Barcelona will be another feather in his cap.
