Alexander Isak Liverpool Transfer Breaks British Record: What It Means

Alexander Isak is finally having the last laugh. The 25-year-old Swedish striker Isak is now the most expensive player in English football history, with Liverpool completing a £125 million move for the young forward.

The Alexander Isak Liverpool deal, which has been accepted by Newcastle United, marks a huge statement of intent from the Reds this season.

Isak was hellbent on moving out of Newcastle, which has been his home for the past three years. The Swede has not played in any matches for the Magpies this season, but will make his first appearance for the Reds once club football resumes after the international break this month.

Alexander Isak Liverpool Transfer Makes Reds Immensely Strong

The Alexander Isak Liverpool signing will give Arne Slot’s side even more attacking firepower alongside other summer incomings, Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Jeremie Frimpong.

With Manchester City going through a lean patch and Arsenal still not looking the finished product despite having a great transfer window, Liverpool have a great chance of defending their league title.

However, more than the end, it is the means which should make more headlines this time around. Liverpool’s acquisition of Isak has been nothing short of a roller-coaster ride resembling a Hollywood thriller.

After the initial bid of Liverpool was rejected by Newcastle, Isak spoke of “broken promises” on the part of the Magpies, which stopped him from going to his preferred destination. Not to mention that he was banished from training with the rest of the squad and was also jeered by the Newcastle supporters without being present at St. James’ Park himself.

However, Newcastle have already signed Yoane Wissa from Brentford as a striker replacement.

Will Hugo Ekitike Be Restricted to Bench?

Liverpool have been very liberal with their money so far, breaking the bank with a 116 million GBP transfer fee for Wirtz. Now, their conquest of Isak shows that the Reds mean business this time around.

But it also poses a question for Arne Slot.

Hugo Ekitike, who has scored three goals and registered an assist in four matches this season, might find it difficult to make it into the playing XI with Isak in the team. However, if the Frenchman plays on the left flank instead of Cody Gakpo, he can still be a part of it.

Liverpool also have Federico Chiesa as one of the options in their squad, which makes their squad depth quite incredible.

The Reds are having to deal with the absence of Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and the late Diogo Jota this season.

For now, Liverpool fans will rejoice at finally seeing Alexander Isak in Liverpool red after one of the most dramatic transfer sagas of the summer. With his arrival, the Reds look like serious favourites to defend their Premier League crown.

This will also go down as one of the most-awaited signings in the vast history of the club.
