The Real Chances of English Teams in the Champions League

England is the only country that still has all its representatives alive in the 2025/2026 UEFA Champions League. Now, after the playoff phase, only 16 teams remain, and six of them are from England, the region with the most teams in the final phase.

With the round of 16 matchups decided by draw, each team’s chances have undergone major changes. Manchester City, for example, which was one of the favourites to win the title, will now have a more difficult path, as it will face Real Madrid.

To give an accurate idea of the real chances of each English team in the competition, we have prepared a summary considering the odds for the title from the 1xBet application.

Arsenal – The Big Favourites

Even before the playoffs and the draw for the round of 16, Arsenal were already the big favourites to win the UEFA Champions League. No wonder: the London team won all eight games in the league phase of the competition and had a perfect campaign. In addition, they lead the Premier League and are in the EFL Cup final. The Gunners are the team of the moment.

However, Arsenal’s history in the competition weighs against them. The club has never lifted the UCL trophy and has a history of disappointing, even when they are the favourites. In the round of 16, the team will face Bayer Leverkusen. The odds for the Gunners to win the title are 3.50.

Manchester City – Good Chances

Even though the draw has pitted Manchester City against Real Madrid once again, which has become almost a tradition in the last decade, the team is still the second-favourites English team to win the competition.

The odds for City to win the title are 10.0 (it was 9.0 before the round of 16 draw). Interestingly, Real Madrid are just behind on the list of favourites, with odds of 11.0.

The fact is that Manchester City strengthened themselves very well in the mid-season transfer window. Winger Antoine Semenyo has already had an immediate impact on the team’s performance, which has improved in recent games and threatens Arsenal’s lead in the Premier League.

Liverpool – The Phase Does Not Help, but It Is Still Highly Rated

Liverpool are not going through a good phase, coach Arne Slot is under threat, and the team has a chance of not qualifying for the next Champions League via the Premier League. Still, the team is the sixth favourites to win the UCL title, with odds of 11.0.

The team has a history of rising to the occasion in big games, which weighs in favour of the Reds in these odds. In the round of 16, Liverpool will face Galatasaray.

Chelsea – Had a Better Chance, but Were Unlucky in the Draw

Before the round of 16 draw, Chelsea’s odds for the title were much lower, as the team had a relatively good league phase and had been growing throughout the season. However, now the team will face Paris Saint-Germain in the knockout stage. The French are the current champions and one of the favourites to win the title this season.

However, Chelsea have the advantage of the last major clash between the two teams. In the 2025 Club World Cup final, when everyone pointed to PSG as the clear favourites, Chelsea surprised everyone and beat the French 3-0. The odds for the team to win the title are 25.0.

Newcastle – Also Did Not Fare Well in the Draw

The odds for Newcastle to win the title are 25.0, the same as Chelsea. This was another English team that did not fare very well in the draw and will face Barcelona in the round of 16.

The Catalan team are experiencing ups and downs in the Champions League and the season in general, but they have a huge amount of individual talent that can tip the balance in any match. In addition, the club’s tradition also counts for a lot.

Tottenham – Same Odds as Chelsea and Newcastle

The odds for Tottenham Hotspur to win the title are also 25.0.

Despite a disappointing Premier League campaign, the team has been playing well in the Champions League and managed to qualify directly for the round of 16 thanks to their good league phase position. Now, the team will face Atlético Madrid in the round of 16.
