Goalkeepers are vital to a team’s success. Any mistake by them can prove to be really detrimental to a team’s fortunes. Measuring success in terms of clean sheets is more than just down to the goalkeeper—a clean sheet can also be credited to a team’s shape, their attacking prowess. But individual performances is what we remember, and the Premier League Golden Glove award is truly an honour.
In the Premier League, quite a few top goalkeepers ply their trade. Hence, it is not an easy task to select three contenders for the Golden Glove award for this season. Even experienced bettors have a few question marks this season before making online casino wagers. We will try to complete that arduous task in this article. Let us get on with the list.
Top Candidates for Premier League Golden Glove Award 2025-26
3. Guglielmo Vicario
This is Guglielmo Vicario’s third season with Tottenham Hotspur and he has already registered 76 appearances for the club. He won the Europa League with Spurs last season and was also selected in UEFA Europa League team of the season in 2024/25. The 28-yer-old Italian is in his prime as a footballer now and should enjoy a few more successful seasons with the North Londoners.
Vicario is a good shot-stopper and has good aerial presence, too, being six feet four inches tall. Moreover, he has two capable centrebacks, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, playing ahead of him for Tottenham, which means that he is pretty well-guarded. He has already kept a clean sheet in Tottenham’s 3-0 win over Burnley in their opening match of the season. It remains to be seen whether he is able to continue the good work for Tottenham and be in a position to win the Golden Gloves award for the season.
2. Alisson Becker
Alisson has been one of Liverpool’s best signings in the recent times. Since joining the club in 2018, the big Brazilian has won two Premier League and a UEFA Champions League title for the Reds. He has played in exactly 300 matches for Liverpool and won the Premier League Golden Glove award on two occasions.
He was also chosen as the best goalkeeper in UEFA Champions League in the triumphant 2018/19 season for Liverpool. Alisson is big and has a great knack for sensing danger Liverpool are favorites to retain the Premier League title, but for that to happen, Alisson will have to be in top form. The fact that he has the redoubtable Virgil van Dijk playing in front of him makes his job easier.
1. David Raya
Raya emerged as Arsenal’s No. 1 goalkeeper in the 2023/24 season, replacing Aaron Ramsdale of England. Since then, Raya has played in 97 matches for the Gunners. He kept a clean sheet in Arsenal’s first match of the season, pulling off a vital save against Manchester United.
The Spaniard is not very big for a goalkeeper, but has good shot-stopping ability. Moreover, he has the Premier League’s meanest duo of centre-backs in Gabriel and William Saliba playing in front of him. Arsenal probably have the best defence in the league and Raya is a key component of it. As of now, he remains the favorite to win the Golden Glove award this season. Not to mention that he has won the award on a couple of occasions already.
