Cristiano Ronaldo Pens New Blockbuster Al-Nassr Contract

Cristiano Ronaldo has committed his future to Al-Nassr by signing a sensational new two-year contract, keeping him tied to the Saudi Pro League club until June 2027.

The deal extends his playing career beyond his 40th birthday, but also ranks as one of the most lucrative contracts in sporting history.

Rumours had been swirling about the former Real Madrid star’s future following a disappointing trophyless season.

Speculation intensified after the five-time Ballon d’Or winner posted a cryptic message on Instagram after the final game of the season that read, “This chapter is over.”

Many interpreted this as a farewell message, but the Portuguese international has had a clear change of heart, and that will come as no surprise when you break down his incredible new deal.

The Details of Cristiano Ronaldo’s Bumper Contract

Ronaldo put pen to paper on a contract worth a staggering £492 million over two years, which breaks down to roughly £488,000 a day – or in even simpler terms, £5.65 a second.

On top of this, there have been other incentives inserted into the contract, with Ronaldo being given the opportunity to become a dream ambassador for the Gulf State should he choose to accept.

If he does, his income will rise to over £500 million in the next two years.

In a further show of commitment from Al-Nassr, Ronaldo was also awarded a 15% ownership stake in the club, a share which is estimated to be worth around £33 million.

It was evident Al-Nassr had to break the bank if they wanted to keep the former Real Madrid and Manchester United star at the club, and fortunately for them, they had the funds to do so.

What Made Ronaldo Stay Put in Saudi Arabia?

While the financial incentives would have made it incredibly hard to turn down, there are a number of other factors that influenced Ronaldo’s decision to remain in the Middle East.

Since making the switch from the Red Devils in January 2023, Ronaldo has settled into life in Saudi Arabia.

Despite an underwhelming season in terms of silverware, he has remained box office and has helped attract a lot more eyes to the Saudi Pro League.

Ronaldo’s competitive drive also remains undiminished. With 938 career goals to his name, he’s made it clear he wants to reach 1000 before he retires.

That’s why hanging up his boots was never an option, and a productive final two years in Saudi Arabia could see him achieve this feat.

Interest in his services remained high, with many Club World Cup sides monitoring his situation.

This included Inter Miami, who were eyeing a potential dream partnership of Lionel Messi and Ronaldo; however, nothing materialised.

In the end, Al-Nassr’s offer proved too strong to resist – both financially and symbolically.

The club has gone all out to ensure one of the greatest players in the history of the sport remains on their roster for at least another two years, and who knows what could happen beyond that.

But most importantly, it definitely means the Saudi Pro League will remain firmly in the global spotlight.
