Fantasy Football Matchweek 16: Buy, Sell, Injury Report

As we approach Fantasy Football Matchweek 16 of the Premier League, scheduled from Saturday, December 13, to Monday, December 15, it’s essential for FPL managers to strategise effectively to maximise their points.

One important thing to note for Gameweek 16 is that FPL managers get five free transfers in anticipation of the upcoming AFCON tournament.

Injury and Suspension Updates to Note

Jean-Philippe Mateta’s availability for Crystal Palace in Gameweek 16 is in the air, with the forward carrying a knee injury.

Arsenal’s Declan Rice missed the Gunners’ trip to Belgium earlier this week due to illness. It is unclear whether the England international will be available to face Wolves this weekend.

Cody Gakpo is out with a muscle injury. His return date is unknown.

Must-Have FPL Picks

Chelsea vs Everton opens Gameweek 16, but it will be a tough game to call. For Chelsea, Pedro Neto (£7.3m) is the most in-form forward, while for Everton, it’s former Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (£5.1m) who’s the most in-form Toffee player.

On the north side of London, league leaders Arsenal will host bottom-of-the-table Wolves. Despite a scare in their Premier League loss to Aston Villa, Arsenal are still the team to beat.

Considering that both sides are polar opposites at the moment, FPL managers should not shy away from Arsenal players. Eberechi Eze (£7.8m), Bukayo Saka (£10.2m), Mikel Merino (£6.0m), Ben White (£5.3m), Piero Hincapie (£5.4m) and David Raya (£6.0m) are players who could make a difference in Fantasy Football Matchweek 16 squads.

Aston Villa will be coming off the back of a domestic win against Arsenal, as well as a Europa League triumph – both of which saw them get to the top three of the respective tables. Facing West Ham, a third win in a row could be coming for Unai Emery. Boubacar Kamara (£4.9m), Morgan Rogers (£7.0m) and Matty Cash (£4.8m) are good options to consider.

Meanwhile, Manchester United may be hard to predict, but Mason Mount’s (£5.9m) form is promising.

Erling Haaland (£15.0m), Phil Foden (£8.6m), Antoine Semenyo (£7.6m) and Igor Thiago (£7.0m) are the most reliable FPL picks, and if your budget allows, opt for at least two of the four.
