Frank Lampard Set To Be Announced as the New Everton Manager

Everton’s hunt has finally ended with Frank Lampard set to be announced as their new manager soon. Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the agreement has been reached and the deal is done and sealed.

Lampard began his managerial journey at Derby County. A year later, his impressive tenure linked him with his former club, Chelsea who were searching for a new manager. He was soon appointed by The Blues after Derby permitted him to hold talks for the role. It was indeed an excellent start for the former Blue who had recently entered the managers’ game. His first season at Chelsea saw them finish a decent fourth place in the Premier League. Along with recruiting some serious talents the next season, his trust in the academy also produced some world-class players.

Despite starting the 2020/21 season on a great note, a huge collapse mid-season dropped them to the ninth position in the league. As a result of which, Lampard was sacked and replaced by Thomas Tuchel.

Frank Lampard Set To Mark His Managerial Return

Lampard Considered Ahead of Duncan Ferguson and Vitor Pereira

Rafael Benitez took over the managerial duties at Goodison Park at the start of the season. However, six-and-a-half months later, they are in a position they never hoped to be in. Sitting only four points above the relegation zone in the 16th position, The Toffees are edging closer to their first relegation in 71 years.

Benitez was sacked earlier this month and the hunt for the new manager had begun right after. Frank Lampard, Everton’s interim manager Duncan Ferguson and Vitor Pereira were the final shortlisted candidates for the job. The club’s major shareholder, Farhad Moshiri along with the board members had held meetings with the above candidates on Friday before finalising their decision.

Earlier this week on Tuesday, Moshiri had considered the former Fenerbahce manager, Vitor Pereira as the primary candidate to succeed Benitez. However, that decision was met with a hostile reaction from the fans. A graffiti read ” Pereira out, Lampard in” was also sprayed outside Goodison Park.

Such opposition forced the billionaire to rethink his decision as a result of which he turned to Frank Lampard. The former midfielder will be returning to management duty after a complete year with the hope of rectifying his mistakes and pulling the club out of the arduous situation. His appointment is expected to be announced soon so that the club can make some reinforcements before the transfer window shuts down.
