Fulham’s Form: 2025/26 Premier League Relegation Candidates or Just a Team Out Of Sorts?

Fulham’s form is currently worrying some fans as Marco Silva’s side face the reality of possible Premier League relegation. The London club are on a losing run of four games, leading many to question if they are surprise candidates for relegation this season.

But why are they a team out of form, and will this change?

Why Are Fulham FC Out of Form?

After the first five matches of the Premier League season, Fulham had acquired eight points with two wins – a healthy tally at that stage, with no murmurs of Premier League relegation. Fast forward to nine games, however, and that tally has not changed, with the side sitting in 17th and currently “relegation candidates” on paper, amidst their losing run.

In the last four matches, Fulham have had to tackle tricky fixtures, indicating why they are currently out of form in the Premier League. These fixtures have included trips to Bournemouth, Newcastle and Aston Villa, with a home tie against Arsenal sandwiched in amongst those fixtures.

To add to the complexity of those tasks, Fulham have also suffered several injuries to key players, forcing Marco Silva to field some makeshift lineups in the Premier League. This was perhaps most notable against Bournemouth, where Harry Wilson and Alex Iwobi were the two most advanced players in a side operating without a striker. Since then, Wilson himself has also acquired an injury.

However, Fulham’s form is poor due to reasons that they have themselves to blame for.

A lack of creativity up front has been evident within the negative run of form, which has been accompanied by a mismanagement of moments under pressure. Fulham FC took the lead in the matches against Aston Villa and AFC Bournemouth and conceded late on in both, losing 3-1 each time, showing an inability to hold a lead and mismanagement of moments under pressure.

Furthermore, Fulham have only kept one clean sheet in the Premier League so far this season. Although some Fulham players have quality, this indicates a lack of control over matches and further justifies the potential mismanagement of moments under pressure.

Premier League Relegation Candidates: Will Fulham Remain Amongst Them?

Many Fulham FC fans and fans around the Premier League will note that Fulham currently have a multitude of reasons for their current form. While there are some aspects of their side that they themselves will have to improve on, players returning from injuries and a run of playing easier teams on paper may eradicate any potential Premier League relegation worries.

Fulham have matches coming up in the Premier League against the likes of Wolves and Everton, with Samuel Chukuwueze and Rodrigo Muniz set to return from injury, both of whom are absentees with valuable contributions to the squad.

However, the current run of form does indicate that Fulham do have to take some points from those matches. Should those players return, and the points tally remain the same, worries may mount up even further.

Furthermore, Fulham’s summer additions are yet to hit the ground running since signing for the club. Although some of those players have had limited opportunities, they will be more than aware that they should make valuable contributions in order to stave off relegation.

Finally, Fulham should be looking to avoid Premier League relegation and better their current position in the table to provide some certainty for their future. Manager Marco Silva is currently out of contract in the summer, and will hope that Fulham perform well for the rest of the season, in order to sign a new contract.

Conclusion

When analysing Fulham’s form, it is evident why it has taken place, although it is negative.

With one of their biggest injury crisis under Marco Silva currently taking place, many will be hoping that Fulham’s fortunes change and their current league position improve very soon so as to avoid the worst-case scenario – Premier League relegation.
