Pep Will Not Manage Another Premier League Club

Pep Guardiola has told press that he cannot see himself managing another Premier League club.

The ex-Barcelona boss said, as quoted on 90Min;

“I think I will always be at Man City. If I had to come back, I would come back to Man City, if they want me,” he said. “I don’t think I am going to train another club in England. I’m a part of this club.”

Guardiola signed a contract extension with City in late 2020. The deal sees him committed to the English giants until 2023. The coach is adamant that another Premier League side is not an option.

Pep Guardiola has previously managed Barcelona and Bayern Munich. He has guided his teams to nine top-flight titles and two Champions League triumphs.

Is a Return to New York on the Cards?

Guardiola spent a year in New York on a sabbatical after leaving Barcelona in 2012. The superstar coach return to Europe to take over Bayern Munich in 2013.

However, his love of New York was plain to see.

“I’ve spent a lot of time in New York City during my career. It’s a city I love deeply and over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to see first-hand New Yorkers’ passion for football,” Guardiola told Manchester Evening News.

But now, reports suggest that Guardiola’s love affair with New York could continue. Pep Guardiola is being tipped to take over at Manchester City’s sister club New York City once his contract is up in 2023. The coach would be expected to oversee the development of talented young American players.

Owned by the City Football Group, the club have boasted world-class players approaching the ends of their careers. Andrea Pirlo, David Villa and Frank Lampard all turned out for the side. Leeds winger Jack Harrison is also a former player.

Ex-Celtic manager Ronny Deila is currently in charge of the club. The side face the Philadelphia Union in the MLS Conference Finals this December.

Pep said to the Manchester Evening News: “All over the world, I’ve seen how football can change lives; it brings people together like no other sport – and I’m very proud that our Group has played a part in using our sport to bring people together and give young people more places to play the game we love here in Manchester and around the world.”

Pep Guardiola will continue to fight for more titles in the Premier League for the next few seasons but his future beyond that point could be slightly clearer now.
