Harry Kane was impressive as Bayern Munich beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 in the first leg of their Round of 16 clash in the UEFA Champions League at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday, March 5.
Kane scored a brace for the Bavarians, while Jamal Musiala added another.
The forward converted a penalty in the 75th minute to take his season’s goal-tally to 31 in 34 matches.
Bayern are the odds-on favorite to qualify for the quarterfinals now, with the formidable Inter Milan their prospective opponents in the last eight.
Bayern lost to Inter Milan in the Champions League final 2-0 in 2010 and will be seeking revenge should they meet in the last eight.
Another Memorable Harry Kane Season at Bayern Munich
Kane scored 44 goals last season for the German giants, but failed to win any silverware, as Leverkusen won their maiden Bundesliga title under Xabi Alonso.
The 31-year-old English striker is yet to win a title in his otherwise glorious career, but that drought might be broken this year, with Bayern comfortably leading the Bundesliga table.
However, their eyes will be on the Champions League title, which they have not won since 2020.
Should they be able to overcome Real Madrid, in case they meet each other in the quarterfinals, Bayern might go all the way this year.
Kane has reached the Champions League final once before, when Tottenham Hotspur lost to Liverpool in the final in 2019.
The English international, who has scored a very impressive 371 goals in his club career so far, must be having a burning desire to end his trophy-drought.
With teammates like Musiala, Leroy Sane, Thomas Muller and Serge Gnabry at Bayern, Kane must be hoping for a turnaround in his fortunes this year.
He will turn 32 this year, meaning that he may not have many years left in top-flight football.
Kane is once again likely to exceed the 40-goal mark this season. His form for the English national side might have dropped a bit, but he is still a potent threat to opposition clubs in club football.

Crucial March Fixtures
Bayern will face Leverkusen in the second leg of their tie next week. Then, they will take on either Inter Milan or Feyenoord in the quarterfinals.
Both of those match-ups are of huge proportions to the Bavarians, who are eyeing their seventh Champions League title this season.
They will also face VfL Bochum, Union Berlin and FC St. Pauli in three Bundesliga matches this month itself.
Bayern lead Leverkusen by eight points in Bundesliga with 10 rounds of matches still to go.
They are the hot favourites to win it this time once again after the setback last season, which saw them surrender the league title to Leverkusen.
Kane, among others, will be desperate to win some silverware for the Bavarians as well as for himself.
Even the football Gods might help him in his cause, as he has been one of the best strikers of his generation.
It remains to be seen whether he is able to end the trophy-curse that has surrounded him till now.
