Liverpool are on a rampage at the moment and are pretty much certain to win the Premier League title this season.
The Reds have 67 points from 28 matches after their 2-0 win over Newcastle United last Wednesday, February 26.
Arsenal, who are in the second place in the league table, have 54 points from 27 matches and are almost certain to finish behind Arne Slot’s men.
Amid the positive vibes that seem to surround the Liverpool players at the moment, a thing that sticks out like a sore thumb is Darwin Núñez’s form.
Slot himself has criticized the Uruguayan striker’s work-rate in a recent interview.
Indifferent Form in Darwin Núñez’ 2024/25 Season
Núñez is only 25 and should be having his best years as a player at the moment.
However, he has scored only six goals in 36 matches this season so far, which is definitely not praiseworthy.
Núñez scored 18 goals last season and one expected that he would come up with a further-improved display this season.
However, he has failed in that endeavor so far, with his late brace against Brentford last month to ensure his team’s win being a rare sparkle.
It is his third season at Anfield and despite Diogo Jota’s intermittent absence owing to an injury, Núñez has failed to take advantage of the situation.
He warms the bench on most occasions, with Slot often preferring to start Curtis Jones as a false nine in Jota’s absence.
It is definitely not an encouraging sign for the Uruguayan striker, who does not use his size often enough inside the opposition penalty box.
Moreover, his shooting accuracy is not good enough usually to help him score either.
In such a scenario, with players like Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz also being present there to play as the centre-forward, Núñez has found it extremely difficult to start for the table-toppers.
It seems unlikely that the situation will change anytime soon.
Núñez has already been linked to a move to Saudi Arabia, which might make him richer, but will rob him of the opportunity to play in a top-class league.

A Non-Congested March for Liverpool
Liverpool will play against Paris Saint-Germain in the Round of 16 of UEFA Champions League next month.
PSG are a difficult team to beat and the Reds will consider themselves slightly unlucky to draw a tough opponent this early in the competition despite topping the group stage.
Slot’s men will also play against Southampton in the Premier League in March and Newcastle in the EFL Cup final.
Nunez might get a look-in against Southampton, who are more than likely to be relegated by the end of the season.
Núñez might have a chance to impress his manager by scoring a goal or two against Southampton.
He should find it difficult to get much game time against PSG or even in the EFL Cup final.
Therefore, the chances of him improving his goal-tally for the season to something impressive seem slim at the moment.
