Manchester United are still trying to find a concrete solution to their goalscoring issues even after having completed the signings of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
The Red Devils are still on the lookout for a possible new striker who can amplify their goal-scoring qualities, and it seems that they have started making moves for the possible transfer of RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko.
Who Will Manchester United Have To Compete With For Benjamin Sesko Signing From Newcastle United?
Ruben Amorim only has Rasmus Hojlund, Joshua Zirkzee and Chido Obi-Martin as his striker options right now, seeing the former two scoring a combined six goals in the 2024/25 season.
So it’s no surprise that he would want to sign a new striker, and as per Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils have recently started conversations with the representatives of Benjamin Sesko over a possible move.
It’s claimed that the Red Devils have begun conversations to discuss various things like the length of his possible contract, their vision for how Sesko will operate in the team and their project for him to help the Slovenian striker develop into a bigger star.
Manchester United have reportedly started concrete discussions with Sesko’s representatives over a possible transfer, but they will be facing a stiff battle for the 21-year-old’s signature.
That is because it’s also been reported that Newcastle United have also begun conversations with Sesko’s representatives and presented their own lucrative offer for him during the talks.
It’s also stated that the Magpies are pushing ‘a lot’ for the Slovenian forward’s signing and that the final decision will rest upon the striker on which club he is interested in joining in the 2025 summer transfer window.
Basically, Manchester United need to make a particularly eye-catching offer to convince Benjamin Sesko to reject Newcastle and join them instead, despite the Magpies being able to promise UEFA Champions League football to the striker.

How Can Benjamin Sesko Improve Manchester United?
Benjamin Sesko enjoyed a pretty impressive 2024/25 season with RB Leipzig, scoring 21 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions.
That included 13 goals in the Bundesliga and four goals in the UEFA Champions League as well, with the 22-year-old proving himself as a prolific goal option for the German side. He outperformed his xG (expected goals) in the Bundesliga, scoring 13 goals with a 10.0 xG.
The 22-year-old forward was also able to stand out in terms of some of his key attacking metrics as well. Sesko averaged 2.54 shots, 3.51 touches in the penalty area and 1.33 successful take-ons per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga in the 2024/25 season.
In comparison, Rasmus Hojlund was only able to average 1.65 shot attempts. 3.78 touches in the penalty area and 0.33 successful take-ons in the 2024/25 Premier League.
Joshua Zirkzee, on the other hand, also averaged 2.00 shot attempts, 1.02 progressive carries and 4.19 touches in the opposition penalty area per 90 minutes last season.
Sesko had 13 league goals, which also stands out from Rasmus Hojlund’s four Premier League goals and Zirkzee’s two league goals in the previous campaign.
Sesko has gained a reputation for being a real speedster, as he recorded a top sprinting speed of 35.69 km/H in the 2024/25 Bundesliga, the 26th best for any player in the German division.
He was also praised as “just incredible” for his goalscoring qualities and threat on counter-attacks, which can help him add more speed and tenacity to Manchester United’s attack.
However, it remains to be seen if the Red Devils can beat out Newcastle United for Sesko’s signing and can bag a promising goal scorer ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League.
