Mohamed Salah’s Greatness Continues to Inspire Liverpool

Following a Mohamed Salah goal and Trent Alexander-Arndold equaliser, Liverpool drew 2-2 with Aston Villa at Villa Park in a Premier League match on Wednesday, February 19.

The draw meant that Liverpool stayed at the top of the league table with 61 points from 26 matches, thereby having an eight-point lead over Arsenal, who have a match in hand.

There is an inevitability about Salah scoring for Liverpool these days, with his season’s tally reaching 29 with Wednesday’s goal.

Mohamed Salah Brilliance at Liverpool this Season

Salah is now a goal short of 30 goals this season, which means it is yet another outstanding season for him.

The 32-year-old Egyptian will probably reach at least 40 goals by the end of the season and might also go on to surpass his tally of 44 goals in his debut season for the Reds.

Salah now has 240 goals for Liverpool, which is a fantastic feat and puts him right up there with the very best in Premier League’s history.

At this rate, if he gets an extension in his contract, it might very well mean that he ends up with at least 300 goals for the Reds, a feat only achieved by Ian Rush to date.

The Liverpool supporters will want Salah’s contract to be renewed for at least a couple of years.

However, the winger is sure to put up a hefty sum of money as his contract amount, which should be considerably more than his current one.

Whether a new contract materializes or not, the Egyptian should take a lot of pride in guiding Liverpool to the cusp of a Premier League title, which will be his second with the club.

Aside from Lionel Messi for Barcelona during the past decades, hardly any player has had as much impact in his club’s league campaign as Salah has had this season.

He has been scoring or contributing towards a goal in almost every match, which is a rarity at the highest level of football.

Liverpool’s tough run of matches will continue

The Reds will face Manchester City and Newcastle United in their next two league matches, both of which promise to be tricky affairs.

Even considering the fact that Manchester City have not quite been the same team that redefined excellence in English football in the recent past, they could still be a tough proposition at home.

Newcastle are also among the most difficult teams to face in England and Liverpool will feel that their next two matches pose a final level of difficulty in their league campaign.

Should they come out unscathed, they should take a giant step towards winning their 20th league title.

The Reds will need Salah to continue playing the way he has been this season. His form will be absolutely crucial in determining his team’s fate.

As of now, Arne Slot’s men remain the odds-on favourites to win the league title and Salah to win the PFA Player of the Year for the current season.
