Barcelona is currently in a bad position off the pitch. The debt is crossing 1 Billion dollars and to add salt into the wounds, Lionel Messi is now a Paris Saint-Germain player.
The financial condition has worsened more as it is very difficult for the club to even sell the tickets for the match. Other than this there are some players who are not in the upcoming project with Ronald Koeman and also their President Joan Laporta. Here are few players who might not have a future in Barcelona for the upcoming season.
Barcelona Looking to Sell Several Players to Lower Debt
Players Who Do Not Have a Future at Barcelona
Samuel Umtiti
The World Cup winner has failed to keep his spot in the back four due to injuries in the last few seasons. Samuel Umtiti just played 646 minutes in the La Liga last season. He played 13 matches in which he just started six games. Umtiti also earns more than 200000 pounds weekly. Barcelona would not think twice to sell him provided a good offer comes. Eric Garcia came to Barcelona for free this summer. He would be there to fill the void in the centre back position in place of Umtiti.
Miralem Pjanic
Miralem Pjanic came to Barcelona from Juventus last summer in a swap deal with Arthur. Pjanic failed to keep his position in the midfield. He just started six games in La Liga. Frankie De Jong and Pedri were the favourites for Ronald Koeman in the starting 11. He wasn’t given enough game time and honestly, things aren’t going great for Pjanic. He has neither assisted nor scored a single goal for Barcelona in one season. Laporta would be looking to offload Pjanic so that it sufficiently brings down the debt.
Philippe Coutinho
Phillipe Coutinho was one of the transfers after Neymar left for Paris Saint-Germain. In the last two years, Philippe Coutinho has played for Bayern Munich and Barcelona. He won the Champions League with Bayern Munich. After returning from the loan spell, Countinho was in the starting 11 for eight games in the La Liga. He had a knee injury which technically ended his season.
Ilaix Moriba
The La Masia player was given a chance to play in the La Liga under Ronald Koeman. Ilaix played 14 games in La Liga and in those games he scored once and assisted twice. Things were going great between the player and the club but for the past few days, things are not going on the positive side for Ilaix Moriba. The issues started when he was offered a new contract and it included a wage cut that would make him earn less. Ilaix wasn’t happy with the situation and he might be looking to part ways with Barcelona. Nothing is certain but Ronald Koeman is having Ilaix Moriba in his squad for the next season
With the season started, Barcelona are not yet in great shape in their financial part. They had a great win in their opening match but there will be a lot of hurdles in the upcoming days in the season.
