Premier League All-Stars V The Rest of the World? United star calls for a Premier League All-Star side?
Manchester United’s striker Romelu Lukaku has suggested for the formation of a Premier League All-Stars team, to face ‘The Rest of the World.’ The Manchester United striker recently aired the idea on Twitter, and has been the subject of some debate.
Lukaku wants to introduce an all-star game between the North and South. Somewhat similar as America does for their NFL and NBA games. However, a North v South could prove difficult, or perhaps be not seen as lucrative. However, there are other ways create ‘Premier League All-Star’ team.
Premier League All-Stars vs Club Teams?
Stealing the idea from MLS, the FA could look at the possibilites, and how it could work?
In the USA, the MLS soccer league has an all-star team which invites a European club to come and play them. Individual clubs Tottenham Hotspur, Barcelona and Real Madrid have already taken part in such fixtures.
What about an All-Star Premier League side?
This could prove an exciting event. At the start of pre-season, fans get to vote who makes 18-man squad from all of the top flight clubs. Fans could also the have the choice of who the team should play. This could be a major event throughout the United Kingdom and Statside. TV companies would be looking at paying huge sums to advertise during these games. With clubs and fans benefitting.
All-Stars vs All-Stars
The Premier League could create a super team, but what about the other major leagues around the world. Each league could perhaps introduce an all-star team, determined pre-season.
Therefore, who would feature in their all-star team against the Premier League? Below is the major leagues potential first eleven. Do you agree?
Premier League
David De Gea, Kyle Walker, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Xabi Alonso, Mo Salah, Ngolo Kante, Kevin De Bruyne, Eden Hazard, Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero
