Rodrygo Joining the Premier League Should Be a Big Development

Rodrygo has the habit of going under the radar at times. The 24-year-old Real Madrid forward from Brazil has often been overshadowed by the presence of Vinicius Junior, Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham for the Los Blancos.

However, as his name starts getting linked with both Liverpool and Arsenal for the next season, the focus starts shifting to him.

With new manager Xabi Alonso taking charge of Real Madrid now, it seems pretty much possible that the Brazilian winger moves to England ahead of next season.

Rodrygo – One of the Most Successful Forwards in Recent Times?

Rodrygo has already spent six seasons at Real Madrid. He has scored 70 goals in 268 matches for the Spanish giants and has won three La Liga titles and two UEFA Champions League titles with them.

Despite being more comfortable playing on the left flank, he has often had to play on the right, because Real have someone like Vinicius playing on the left.

However, as Federico Valverde, Arda Guler and Endrick are also capable of playing on the right among the Real Madrid players, Rodrygo might often find it difficult to make it to the Real Madrid starting XI.

Rodrygo’s contract with Real ends in 2028, and as a result, should attract a good transfer fee.

Liverpool vs Arsenal

Liverpool will have to fill the void created by the tragic passing of Diogo Jota. Hence, they are reportedly behind Rodrygo at the moment.

With Luis Diaz likely to move to another club ahead of next season as well, Rodrygo might prove to be an ideal replacement for him.

However, the English club that has been linked to Rodrygo for a long time now is Arsenal.

The Gunners have Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli playing on the flanks, but they reportedly want to sign another world-class winger. Rodrygo could play on his preferred left flank for the Gunners if he signs for them.

Rodrygo might prove to be that player for the Gunners, who have not won a trophy in the last six years.

Should he decide to join Arsenal, it is going to be the biggest transfer in favour of the North Londoners since Mesut Ozil joined them from Real Madrid in 2013. Ozil won four FA Cups with the Gunners, but failed to win the Premier League title that has eluded the London club for more than two decades now.

Rodrygo might help Mikel Arteta’s men reach that elusive goal by coming to the Emirates Stadium next season.

However, as of now, the attraction of playing for Liverpool should be greater for the Brazilian.

The Reds are the English champions and have a very exciting team. Liverpool arguably have a stronger squad than Arsenal and remain favourites to win back-to-back Premier League titles.

It now remains to be seen which of the two English clubs will come up with a bigger offer for Rodrygo. It also remains to be seen whether Real Madrid will decide to part ways with the Brazilian.

The challenge and lure of playing in England, however, should prove to be strong enough to sway the Brazilian to move to either of the English giants in the ongoing transfer window.
