Their latest match ended in embarrassment with a 5-1 home loss to Atlanta in the Europa League. This game was a fourth loss for Everton under Unsworth, three which have come in cup competitions. A further concern for fans has been the side failing to keep a clean sheet in their last 11 matches.

Southampton head into the weekend game one point above Everton. The Saints have only won once in their last seven matches, with draws against Newcastle and Brighton.

Last weekend saw the home side lose their second game in a row, with a 3-0 defeat against Liverpool.

Neither side is in great form with only Huddersfield, Swansea, and Crystal Palace scoring fewer league goals this season than Mauricio Pellegrino’s side. While fellow struggling side West Ham are the only side to concede more goals than Everton.
