In the past few days, Tottenham Hotspur have been busy in the transfer market, confirming the signing of Mohammed Kudus from fierce rivals West Ham, in addition to agreeing a deal for Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White, but what will these players bring to Thomas Frank’s side?
What Morgan Gibbs-White and Mohammed Kudus bring to the table
Since Mohammed Kudus joined West Ham and Morgan Gibbs-White joined Nottingham Forest, both have exhibited quality performances in the Premier League and made themselves notable names within their respective teams’ starting lineups.
Gibbs-White has enjoyed a higher level of success, which may be attributed to Nottingham Forest as a team. But both have shown that they are at the level Tottenham require.
West Ham have been unsteady as of late, parting ways with long-serving manager David Moyes and short-term manager Julien Lopetegui.
However, Mohammed Kudus, along with Jarrod Bowen, has still been able to provide for his side.
Kudus is a smart footballer who, although he possesses evident pace and skill, is also able to use his body well and show strength and maturity when required.
Nottingham Forest, however, are a side that have enjoyed such success that ensures that they will take part in European competition next season.
A talismanic figure within that European push was Morgan Gibbs-White, a player who had to impress with the price tag he was originally bestowed with upon joining Nottingham Forest.
Since then, Gibbs-White has added a clinical edge to his game and has helped control Nottingham Forest’s style of play and create chances.
How Will They Fit Into Thomas Frank’s System?
When reflecting upon Thomas Frank’s system at Brentford, the Danish manager often looks to have a dynamic winger and a creative midfielder who controls the tempo and possession, namely in the form of Henrik Damsgaard and Bryan Mbeumo.
Mbeumo soon became a talismanic figure for Thomas Frank’s side, leading his team’s goals and assists, which is not an attribute Kudus currently possesses.
However, the African winger displays strength and skill comparable to that of Mbeumo.
Furthermore, with Dominic Solanke at the helm, Frank has at his disposal a striker who should score frequently if he is utilised correctly.
Gibbs-White, therefore, can fulfil a role similar to that played by Henrik Damsgaard. Gibbs-White often sees a lot of the ball, controls the tempo and is a dynamic presence on the pitch.
The Englishman frequently covered some of the most ground in his matches for Nottingham Forest in comparison to his teammates, thus portraying another useful asset.

A New Era Begins at Spurs
For Tottenham to spend over £100m in two days is an unusual level of investment from owner Daniel Levy.
However, it is one that significantly bolsters the options they have available. For Tottenham to move so quickly, particularly with regards to the Gibbs-White transfer, signals a statement of intent and a backing for Thomas Frank, should the Gibbs-White transfer go through.
Argentinian centre back Sergio Romero also currently appears to be staying at Tottenham. Romero was the subject of interest from Athletico Madrid, but he has returned to Hotspur Way for pre-season.
When taking all these factors into account, this suggests that exciting times lie ahead for Tottenham in the upcoming season with Champions League football and the new faces that will appear in their side.
