West Ham’s Form: A Change in Fortunes for the Hammers under Nuno Espirito Santo

As we enter the final stages of the 2025/26 Premier League season, West Ham’s form has changed positively. On January 3, the Hammers lost 3-0 against Wolves, and relegation looked to be a certainty. Now, they are within touching distance of Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur.

West Ham’s Form: The Fixtures since Wolves Away

Since West Ham played away against Wolves, they have scored in most fixtures they have played in the Premier League, obtaining some notable wins.

Perhaps the most notable victory of all came against Tottenham Hotspur. The Hammers won the match courtesy of a 93rd-minute winner from Callum Wilson, following a goal-line scramble. The victory, considering the two sides’ rivalry and the time of the winning goal, sparked momentum for West Ham and an upturn in West Ham’s form.

West Ham’s form has achieved further notable wins, including away against Burnley. The Hammers scored twice in the opening half an hour, wrapping up the three points early on.

The most recent win that has contributed to their form positively came away against Fulham. Although the match was a close one, and victory for West Ham came courtesy of Crysencio Summerville taking advantage of a mistake, it was a portrayal of West Ham’s newfound ability to obtain results.

West Ham’s Form: The New Additions

West Ham’s form since January has been partially positive due to the new additions that the side made in the January transfer window. The Hammers were busy throughout that window, making multiple additions.

Defensively, they have improved, particularly due to the addition of Axel Disasi. The French centre-back joined the club late in the window. However, he has been a rock for the side since then. Disasi lacked frequent minutes at Chelsea and appears to be relishing a loan opportunity with West Ham.

Valentin Castellanos has also been positive for West Ham’s form, adding another option up front. He has only scored two goals in nine appearances. However, he has looked experienced and shown a desire to achieve with the side.

Other additions, including the likes of Adama Traore and Pablo, have failed to capitalise on opportunities presented to them. However, the club’s form has remained positive, despite the lack of contributions from some players.

West Ham’s Form: Are the Hammers Now Suited to Nuno Espirito Santo’s Play Style?

When he has been manager of other sides, Nuno Espirito Santo has often looked to have a solid base defensively, looking quick and clinical on the transition. West Ham’s form indicates that they are now used to that style, and are productive, obtaining valuable points.

Crysencio Summerville has developed into a key figurehead for the side, contributing hugely to where the club stand now. The forward has five goals in eight Premier League matches, most recently scoring the winner against Fulham.

Mateus Fernandes has also been key. West Ham’s form has been positive due to the creative outlets within their side. Fernandes, whilst offering defensive interceptions and tackles, has often sparked their quick transitions and contributed in front of goal.

However, to survive relegation, West Ham’s form needs to continue being positive, ensuring they pressurise the teams above them.

The Hammers’ form has changed positively under Nuno Espirito Santo. The side has obtained a level of stability, consistently putting in good performances and pressurising teams above.

Although relegation is still a notable possibility, recent form has ensured that they have a real chance of survival. West Ham’s form is also contradictory to that of Tottenham Hotspur, who are in real trouble.
