The Wolves Norwegian Making His Mark in the Premier League

Norwegian footballers have done well in the recent times in the Premier League. Back in the 1990s and 2000s, Norway’s Tore Andre Flo and John Arne Riise played with some distinction in England.

However, at the moment, at least four Norwegian players are plying their trade with some authority in English football.

Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard are superstars already, with the latter being the Arsenal captain. Oscar Bobb of Manchester City has also made his mark by making the club’s starting XI of the this season.

Now is the time for football lovers to shift their focus towards Jorgen Strand Larsen, the Wolverhampton Wanderers striker was on loan from Celta Vigo last season, but has been signed permanently since then.

Jorgen Strand Larsen

Jorgen Strand Larsen scored 14 goals last season for Wolves and was the stand-out No. 9 among the teams that were in the relegation battle.

Wolves finished 16th last season, barely managing to avoid relegation, but Larsen got attention because of his performance as the team’s frontman.

The 25-year-old Norwegian has begun this season as well, scoring a brace in Wolves’ 3-2 win over West Ham United at EFL Cup on Tuesday, August 26. Larsen now has 16 goals for Wolves, which makes him the most prolific one for them since Raul Jimenez left the club, having scored 57 goals for them.

Wolves have lost both their matches in the Premier League so far this season and find themselves in 19th position in the table at the moment. By the look of it, it appears that they will once again be fighting the relegation battle this season.

Hence, the job of their No. 9 does not appear to be a very enviable one.
Still, Larsen seems to be doing a nice job for them at the moment. The Norwegian’s contract runs with the club until 2029, but a string of good performances might enable him to land at a bigger club.

Larsen scored 18 goals in 74 matches for Celta Vigo in his two seasons with them. However, he has almost touched that tally in England, playing in a little over half the matches he did in Spain.

Will the Norwegian Move to a Bigger Club in the Future?

Larsen is supposed to be in his prime as a footballer at the moment. Another 15-20 goals this season will surely attract attention from bigger clubs. Larsen will surely aim to get into a big club within the next couple of years.

He has also made into the Norwegian national team despite the presence of Haaland as their main striker. However, his record of only three goals in 21 international appearances is not that good, given his record at his club.

Still, one will hope that he will continue to score goals for his club and country alike at least until he turns 30. It remains to be seen whether he is able to do that. Newcastle had already approached Wolves to get him, but found their bid rejected.

However, it can be said without any doubt that defenders of the opposition teams will have a special eye on him henceforth.
