Tino Livramento Could Be a Good Acquisition for Manchester City

Manchester City have endured a trophy-less 2024/25 season, which is almost unthinkable, given their wonderful track record under Pep Guardiola. They have won 19 trophies during the last decade, which is a fantastic record.

With a number of veterans like Kevin de Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan on their way out of the Manchester City squad, it has become imperative for them to get some reinforcements to their squad.

22-year-old Newcastle United full-back from England, Tino Livramento, is reportedly on Manchester City’s radar.

From Newcastle Standout to City Target: Tino Livramento’s Growing Reputation

Livramento has been very good for Newcastle so far. He is a right-back but has thrived under Eddie Howe as a left-back under Newcastle.

He has registered 80 appearances in a couple of seasons for the Magpies and has been one of the best left-backs in the Premier League this season.

He also won the EFL Cup with Eddie Howe’s team, which was Newcastle’s first trophy in more than 60 years.

Livramento is great going forward and is quite good defensively as well, earning his first England call-up and making his debut for the national team last year.

Walker to Leave This Summer

Manchester City have been missing a genuine, quality full-back in their ranks since Kyle Walker left on a loan to AC Milan.

Rico Lewis has not yet been able to cement his place in the starting XI and Josko Gvardiol, who has often played as the left-back for Manchester City, is a centre-back actually.

As a result, the Cityzens have often been solely reliant on their wingers to send crosses into the opposition penalty box.

It has not helped their purpose and as a result, their performance on the pitch has suffered.

Guardiola will have an eye on rectifying that flaw to make his team the English champions once again next season.

City often switch to a 3-2-4-1 with one of their full-backs shifting into midfield and the other one playing as a centre-back. This has made them greatly reliant on their wingers to provide width to their attacks.

Should the Cityzens sign Livramento, he might play as the right-back, with Gvardiol playing as the left-back in their 4-2-3-1.

Walker has just turned 35 and should be leaving Manchester City this summer on his return from AC Milan. Hence, Livramento might become his direct replacement next season.

Livramento’s contract with Newcastle expires in 2028, but if Manchester City come with a big offer, the Magpies might not resist it.

Therefore, one can hope to see the young Englishman in action for Guardiola’s team next season.
