Vitor Pereira’s Wolves are still active in the transfer window, despite previous players the Premier League side having interest in moving to different clubs.
This is the case for Marc Pubill, who left Almeria for Atletico Madrid, and Juanlu Sánchez, who looks set to join Serie A champions Napoli. Wolves start off the season away to Manchester City.
Wolves Approach Promising Serie A Right Back
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Wolves had made an approach for right back Jackson Tchatchoua. Tchatchoua is currently 23 years old and plays in Serie A for Hellas Verona.
His side finished the league in 14th last season, with the right back starting in all but two league matches due to a red card suspension.
Jackson Tchatchoua’s Career Path
Tchatchoua was born in Ixelles, Belgium, though he represents Cameroon internationally.
In his youth career, the Cameroon international started off at Standard Liège until 2015, where he left ‘Les Rouches’ academy for OH Leuven, though he only stayed a year at the latter. In the summer of 2016, the left-back left OH Leuven, who are owned by Leicester City’s owners, for Charleroi, who are rivals of Tchatchoua’s first academy side.
His first appearance in the Charleroi first team came against KV Oostende, which has since dissolved. This match was played on the 24th July 2021, where the right-back’s side won 3-0 in a convincing away win, starting off their league campaign in Belgium’s top division.
He would finish the season as Charleroi’s solidified right back option, appearing in 34 matches for the Belgian side, with 33 of those coming in the league. He also scored once and gained two assists in his debut season.
The season after, Tchatchoua would also earn the same amount of goal contributions with one goal and two assists, though his side would fail to qualify for the Championship playoff group or Europa League play-off group that the top sides in the league qualify for when the league breaks up after the regular season.
That being said, Tchatchoua impressed enough to earn a move to Hellas Verona on loan, then on a permanent transfer for a fee of €3 million.
In his first season, the right back made 27 appearances, with 26 in Serie A. Here, he helped the Italian side finish 13th, much better than their 17th-place finish the season prior.
The following season, he would go on to start in all but two league matches due to a red card suspension under the management of Paolo Zanetti.

Wolves’ Transfer Activity
Wolves have already made a few signings this season. Their first signing of the season was Fer Lopez from Celta Vigo for £19 million. Last season, he made 20 appearances for the LaLiga side, scoring on four occasions. He is a right-winger but can also play through the middle.
Jørgen Strand Larsen made a permanent transfer for £23 million, also from Celta Vigo. Right-winger Jhon Arias signed for £14 million from Fluminense after he impressed at the FIFA Club World Cup for the Brazilian side.
Finally, the club signed David Møller Wolfe from AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands on a five-year contract for a fee of £10 million.
That being said, the club has lost pivotal players this season, such as Rayan Ait Nouri to Manchester City for around £30 million and Cunha to Manchester United for £61 million, and Vitor Pereira has desperately searched for replacements.
Other players, such as Craig Dawson and Nelson Semedo, have left as free agents, with the club failing to offer them new contracts.
As previously discussed, Wolves have been active in the transfer window to strengthen their squad and to add squad depth, but many of the players they have held interest in have gone elsewhere. The Wolves hierarchy will be hoping that is not the case for Tchatchoua, as Nottingham Forest had previously enquired about the player.
