Noni Madueke Against Serbia: Arsenal Winger Shines in England’s 5-0 Win

Noni Madueke against Serbia was in form, and exactly the kind of player Thomas Tuchel needed as England thrashed a hapless Serbia 5-0 in a World Cup qualifier in Belgrade on Tuesday, September 9.

Madueke scored one of England’s goals and impressed once again with his performance after playing well against Andorra last week in the absence of Bukayo Saka on the right flank. He now has a goal and an assist in two qualifying matches for the Three Lions.

It was also his first goal for his country in his ninth appearance for them.

England have won each of their five matches in Group K and are almost certain to make it to the quadrennial tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Thomas Tuchel will be happy to find that he has another quality option in the wing, as Saka should face stiff competition in making it back into the playing XI when he returns from injury.

Noni Madueke’s Strong Form This Season

Before the start of the season, Madueke signed for Arsenal from Chelsea.

Arsenal have a plethora of options on the flanks, and Madueke was another addition to the list. The Gunners already had Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, who could play on the left, and Eberechi Eze’s signing meant there was another player who could play on the left flank.

On the right, Saka was already there, but his injury meant that Madueke made it to the starting XI for the Gunners. In the three matches for the North Londoners so far, the 23-year-old winger has been one of their best players.

Madueke was not spectacular for his former club, Chelsea, but came up with decent performances from time to time. He scored 20 goals in 92 matches for the Royal Blues and also won the UEFA Conference League last season with them.

Now, however, is the time for the Englishman to make the transition to the next level as a player. He has been a good player so far, but the time is ripe for him to make himself inevitable for the team he plays.

Noni Madueke Against Serbia Highlights His Growing Role

Madueke remains a vital component for the Three Lions at the moment, even keeping in mind that they have Saka, Phil Foden, Eze, Anthony Gordon and Marcus Rashford in their ranks, who can all play on the flanks. Performances like that of Noni Madueke against Serbia show why he is earning Tuchel’s trust.

The Arsenal player, however, will have to play well this season for his club to make his stronger for inclusion in the playing XI for the Three Lions. He has managed to earn Tuchel’s faith for the time being and will definitely be in the zone of consideration when the squad for the World Cup is picked ultimately.

As of now, he is yet another young player making his mark for the Three Lions.

If England are to win the tournament next year, which is the aim with which Tuchel has been appointed as their manager, young players like Madueke will have to rise up to the occasion. It remains to be seen whether he is able to ultimately do that.
