Mohamed Salah Liverpool goals tally reached another important milestone this week. Salah scored his 254th goal in a Liverpool shirt against Wolves in the FA Cup to take his team into the quarterfinals.
More importantly, that strike meant the Mohamed Salah Liverpool goals count has now surpassed the number Wayne Rooney scored for Manchester United. It was another moment that highlighted just how important Salah has been for the Reds since arriving at Anfield.
Mohamed Salah Liverpool Goals Show His Remarkable Consistency
Rooney remains Manchester United’s all-time leading scorer, which puts the Mohamed Salah Liverpool goals achievement into perspective.
Salah signed for Liverpool in 2017 and has enjoyed a hugely successful spell at the club. Salah has played in 432 matches for Liverpool and has won a couple of Premier League titles and a UEFA Champions League title with them.
In comparison, Rooney played in 559 matches for Manchester United and won five Premier League and a Champions League title with them.
However, to be fair to Rooney, he played in multiple positions for the Red Devils. He was primarily a No.9, but also played in the midfield and on the left flank. Had he stayed in the position of the centre-forward all the time, his goal count would have definitely increased.
Still, the Mohamed Salah Liverpool goals numbers are particularly impressive given that he operates largely as a winger. The 33-year-old has not yet completed a decade at the club and could add many more goals to his tally in the coming years.
The steady rise of the Mohamed Salah Liverpool goals record has also strengthened his claim as one of the club’s greatest players. Liverpool’s history includes legendary names such as Kenny Dalglish and Steven Gerrard, but Salah has firmly placed himself in that conversation.
The recency bias might prompt a lot of people to claim that Salah has surpassed Dalglish and Gerrard already, but, considering the entire career of those two, it might be a difficult claim to establish. Still, Mohamed Salah going past Wayne Rooney goes on to show just how good Salah has been for Liverpool.

Salah’s Influence This Season
Liverpool are in sixth position in the Premier League table in what has been an underwhelming season for them. Unless they win the Champions League this season, it might prove to be difficult for them to qualify for the competition next season.
Salah has scored nine goals in 31 matches this season. He will surely get to the double digits, but unless he reaches 15 goals at least, the season cannot even be called a moderate success for him. Hopefully, he will get there and also help Liverpool in the process to finish the season with some silverware.
For now, the Mohamed Salah Liverpool goals milestone remains another landmark moment in the Egyptian’s career. If he continues at this pace, he could move closer to Ian Rush’s long-standing club record of 300 goals.
