Robert Lewandowski’s FC Barcelona farewell is nearing closer and closer, as the 37-year-old looks set to move on at the end of the 2025/26 season.

Signed in the summer of 2022, the Polish forward has gone down as a true Barca legend, helping the club in uncertain times and now basking in the glory days.

With Barca in financial turmoil, the club turned to the former Bayern Munich striker as their marquee signing, with many saying he’s past his prime and will decline at the club.

However, Lewandowski has proved his doubters wrong, with double-figure returns in goals in every season and with numerous trophies added to his long list of accolades.

Robert Lewandowski’s FC Barcelona farewell marks a sad time for the club, as the Polish talisman has been an ever-present figure in Barcelona’s revival over the last couple of years.

Robert Lewandowski’s FC Barcelona Farewell: The Beginning Of An Incredible Journey

In his second game for FC Barcelona, the Polish striker was on the scoresheet as he netted a brace in Barca’s 4-1 win over Real Sociedad in La Liga.

To begin the season, in seven La Liga appearances, Lewandowski notched nine goals and two assists as Barcelona won every game in which the Pole scored.

He added 12 more goals and five assists to his goal contributions count and ended the La Liga season with an astonishing 23 goals and seven assists, a goal count that saw him win the Pichichi for most goals in the Spanish top-flight.

Due to his great goalscoring exploits, FC Barcelona won the double as they scooped the La Liga title and the Supercopa de España, rounding out a successful first season for Lewandowski in Spain.

Robert Lewandowski’s FC Barcelona Farewell: Breaking Records

In the 2023/24 season, his goalscoring exploits continued, as he scored 26 goals and assisted nine times in 46 appearances across all competitions.

During FC Barcelona’s first game in the UEFA Champions League, he scored in a 5-0 win over Royal Antwerp and became only the third player to reach 100 goals in the competition.

In addition to that record, he also became the oldest goalscorer for FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League, surpassing the record previously set by Gerard Piqué.

Another record that he achieved was being the most successful FC Barcelona goalscorer in his first 50 games for the club, with his 35 goals taking him to the top of the list and surpassing Samuel Eto’o’s previous record.

He also managed to net his first La Liga hat-trick before the end of the 2023/24 season, as his three goals helped Barca get a 4-2 win over Valencia, which secured a second-place finish.

Robert Lewandowski’s FC Barcelona Farewell: Back-To-Back La Liga Titles And Much More

The following season, Lewandowski was back into his stride, even though he dealt with a muscle injury that sidelined him for a few games near the end of the campaign.

In every single competition that season, the Polish goalscorer was a man possessed as he hunted for more trophies to add to his overspilling trophy cabinet.

In La Liga, he scored an impressive 27 goals in 34 appearances as FC Barcelona returned to the top and scooped back the Spanish top-flight title from arch-rivals Real Madrid.

In the domestic cup competitions, he scored and assisted in the Supercopa de España, with Barca victorious over Real Madrid in the final. He missed out on the Copa del Rey final, but his teammates did not let him down as Los Blancos were dealt yet another defeat to FC Barcelona.

The only trophy that evaded Lewandowski was the UEFA Champions League that season. In the semi-final against Inter Milan, the game went down to the wire as the Italians won 7-6 on aggregate after extra time in the second leg.

A memorable season nonetheless, and the 2025/26 season carried on in the same vein.

The trophy cabinet continued to expand, but the Pole’s minutes started to dry up as Robert Lewandowski’s FC Barcelona farewell continued to draw closer.

In 29 La Liga appearances, he still managed to net 13 goals as Barca won the La Liga title for a second consecutive season, along with the Supercopa de España, with Lewandowski scoring in the final.

Once again, the UEFA Champions League eluded FC Barcelona, with Atletico Madrid beating the Blaugrana in the quarter-final, even though Barca mounted a second leg comeback.
