West Ham relegation threat is almost certain to be realised now after their 3-1 defeat in the Newcastle vs West Ham Premier League match on Sunday, May 17. The Hammers now have 36 points from 37 matches, while Tottenham Hotspur, their nearest rivals, have 38 from 36.
The West Ham relegation fight has been very ordinary so far, with them failing to score in three of their last five matches. The inability to score goals has been a major problem for them in the Premier League relegation battle.
West Ham Relegation Threat Has Been Made Possible Owing to Collective Failure of Forwards
Jarrod Bowen and Pablo are the joint-highest goal-scorers for West Ham United this season so far, with eight goals each. Callum Wilson, the centre-forward, has scored only six goals in 30 Premier League matches, while Adama Traore has none yet.
Taty Castellanos has scored five goals in 17 Premier League matches so far, which means that he still has a somewhat better scoring rate for the club. However, all of that has been too little to serve West Ham’s purpose.
Lucas Paqueta, the playmaker, has contributed five more in the campaign so far. Mateus Fernandes, the midfielder who missed a golden opportunity against Arsenal to put his side ahead, has scored four goals so far.
West Ham have scored 43 goals in 37 matches, the fifth-lowest in the league this season. They have a porous defence that has let in 65 goals, which has made their job even more difficult.
The fact that none of their players have reached double digits in terms of scoring goals shows their attack in a poor light.
If the West Ham relegation fears become true, it is almost certain that the likes of Bowen and Castellanos will leave the club. They will probably need a rebuild in their attack, acquiring new players to play Championship football and work their way up.

West Ham United Relegation Chances Are Very Bright
The chances of a West Ham relegation are very bright at the moment. Unless Tottenham play poorly in their last two matches and lose in both, the Hammers are not going to stay up. The chances of Tottenham losing both their matches are very slim.
Hence, unless some major upset occurs, one can expect to see West Ham in the Championship next week. Their below-par forward line is primarily responsible for their plight.
Nuno Espirito Santo, the West Ham manager, has failed to do much in that regard either, as his team has failed to play entertaining football for the most part.
With most of their forwards and midfielders failing to find the net, the West Ham relegation battle is proving to be a lost cause. It would be a pity for one of England’s oldest clubs with a great stadium to go down and spend the next season in the Championship.
However, it is probably going to be a reality soon. West Ham supporters will, however, be hoping for a miracle to happen within the next week or so.
