Now that Manchester City have failed to win the Premier League title for the second consecutive season, it is time to talk about Manchester City flops. There have been a few players who have not performed as expected in the current season.

The Cityzens drew Arsenal close, but failed to win it in the end, missing out by a few points after their 1-1 draw against Bournemouth handed the Gunners the title.

The Manchester City flops have certainly not helped the Cityzens’ cause, and the three players below have had poor performances throughout the season, to their high standards.

Let us discuss three Manchester City flops of the 2025/26 season.

Manchester City Flops: Savinho

Savinho is only 22, and it is only his second season at Manchester City.

He has played in 35 matches this season and scored only four goals. So far, he has played in 83 matches for the Cityzens and scored only seven goals in them.

The arrival of Antoine Semenyo in January has pushed the Brazilian winger to the sidelines. He has made most of his appearances as a substitute and has been a fringe player for Pep Guardiola’s side.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for the young Brazilian. He has extended his contract until 2031, but should find it difficult to see it through.

Manchester City Flops: Omar Marmoush

Marmoush came to Manchester City with a very good goal-scoring record behind him for Eintracht Frankfurt. However, since then, he has managed to score only 16 goals in 61 matches for the Cityzens.

In the current season, the 27-year-old Egyptian has scored only eight goals in 36 matches for Manchester City. He has played behind Erling Haaland whenever he has managed to get minutes on the pitch.

The Egyptian forward has mainly been used as a substitute and has failed to stake his claim as a regular first-team player.

Marmoush has shown flashes of his brilliance, but has not been consistent enough for a big team like Manchester City. He can play on the left flank as well, but Jeremy Doku’s consistency on the left has kept him on the bench most of the time.

He will probably stay at the club, but should find it difficult to make it to the starting XI unless his performance improves considerably for the team. Until that happens, he remains one of the Manchester City flops.

Manchester City Flops: Phil Foden

It now seems difficult to believe that Foden was the Premier League’s Player of the Year two seasons ago. Since then, his performance has seen a rapid decline and he now finds himself as one of the Manchester City flops for the current season.

In the last two seasons, including the current one, Foden has scored only 23 goals in 98 matches for the club, including 10 in 49 matches this season.

He has regularly been used as a substitute by Guardiola this season, with Rayan Cherki consistently being preferred over him.

Foden undoubtedly has the skills to excel in the midfield, but his recent form remains a cause for concern. With Bernardo Silva set to depart at the end of the season, it might open up an avenue for Foden to get into the starting XI next season.

Still, the 26-year-old Englishman, who has played in more than 360 matches for the Cityzens and scored 110 goals, should do something to get his act together. He is likely to remain at the club for a long time, and his return to form is a must for the Cityzens to excel.
