‘Manchester United sign Ederson’ is a headline soon to be completed. The Brazilian midfielder, who is going to be 27 next month, is going to cost United £38 million.
Should Manchester United sign Ederson, it will be a move that effectively replaces Casemiro in the Red Devils’ squad.
This will be the first Manchester United transfer of the season. Ederson is moderately experienced in European football and should prove to be a quality signing.
If Manchester United Sign Ederson It Will Give Them a Holding Midfielder
Ederson has played in Italy for the last five seasons and registered a total of 195 appearances for Salernitana and Atalanta, scoring 18 goals in them. Ederson also won the Europa League in the 2023/24 season with Atalanta.
All of that makes Ederson a moderately experienced player, who has played his part in making Atalanta a respectable proposition in Italian football in recent years. He can play both as a deep-lying playmaker as well as a box-to-box midfielder, which makes him a great player to have in one’s team.
United already have Kobbie Mainoo in their line-up, who has played in more than 100 matches for the club already. Having Ederson alongside him in the double-pivot is going to be an enticing proposition for Michael Carrick’s team.
Ederson’s superior experience should provide Manchester United with a calming assurance and should allow Mainoo to play his natural game for the team. Mainoo should enjoy venturing forward, with Ederson staying deep and pulling the strings.
The Brazilian will, however, have to get used to the pace of the Premier League, which is higher than that of Serie A. It might take him some time, but Carrick should be happy to give him that.

Ederson Manchester United Transfer Means No Elliot Anderson
United were after Anderson as well, but the Nottingham Forest midfielder has not committed to the club yet. Manchester City are also after Anderson’s signature and it remains to be seen whether the Englishman opts to play for the Cityzens from next season onwards.
Should United manage to get Anderson, too, it will make their midfield one of the strongest in the Premier League. With the Red Devils set to play in the Champions League next season, they will need a bigger squad to function. Hence, the signings of Ederson and Anderson could come in handy.
If Anderson does not decide to come to Manchester United, it will mean that Ederson will get a lot of game time for the club.
That will give them a lot of responsibility and the Brazilian should enjoy it at this stage of his career. There was a Brazilian midfielder named Anderson, who played for United with some distinction for quite a few seasons.
Now, it is up to another Brazilian after Anderson and Casemiro to play as a holding midfielder for the Manchester-based club. Hopefully, Ederson will be able to do justice to the signing amount United are going to spend on him.
United supporters will hope that, should Manchester United sign Ederson, it turns out to be a good move for them.
