The summer transfer window is well underway, and as reports have suggested, the Julian Alvarez transfer news continues to dominate, as Atletico Madrid have turned down Real Madrid’s opening bid of £130 million.

With the player seemingly only wanting a move to FC Barcelona, Los Blancos have raised the bar in the Julian Alvarez transfer saga, and for the Catalan giants, it will be a huge blow as they look for their Robert Lewandowski replacement.

The Argentine striker will definitely not be a cheap purchase for whoever wins the bidding war, as Atletico Madrid has placed a 500 million euros (£430 million) release clause on Alvarez.

It is viewed that the 26-year-old is open to a move to Barca and away from Atletico due to the player not getting along with head coach Diego Simeone.

However, with Real Madrid’s £130 million bid rejected by their Madrid rivals, it puts Barcelona in a tricky position, but also enters Los Blancos into the race for the Julian Alvarez transfer.

Julian Alvarez Transfer: Tactical Ploy Or Genuine Interest From Real Madrid

In what looks like a very tactical move from Real Madrid, it is very hard to believe that there is serious interest from the Madrid giants for the Argentine forward.

With the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and others in their attacking depth, the Julian Alvarez transfer looks unrealistic to say the least.

With the aforementioned trio, Real Madrid have a solid forward line, and Alvarez having to play second-fiddle to any of those players for the amount Real Madrid were planning on spending seems crazy.

They would not be signing Alvarez for him to be a bench player, but also would not bench Mbappe for the Argentine forward.

On the other hand, the Julian Alvarez transfer may pave the way out of the club for Rodrygo, who is currently out injured with an ACL injury.

The Brazilian winger has had a tough two seasons at Los Blancos, as his form and injury record have seen him hit a bump in the road to meeting his potential.

If Rodrygo was to depart, the Julian Alvarez transfer would make sense, as Mbappe and Vinicius Junior would be deployed as the wingers, which would allow the striker to take up his natural position.

Julian Alvarez Transfer: Barcelona In A Tricky Spot

Whilst Barcelona had a 100 million euros pre-agreement with Atletico Madrid over the Julian Alvarez transfer, Real Madrid’s rejected bid has somewhat stopped them in their tracks.

However, the Blaugrana are expected to step up their pursuit of the Argentine striker with an expected improved bid of 120 million euros planned from the Catalan giants.

Despite the difficult nature of Real Madrid’s huge bid for Alvarez, the 26-year-old has already said that his preferred destination is Barcelona if he were to leave Atletico Madrid.

Barcelona have the Julian Alvarez transfer high on their priority list, but they do not have the ability or the funds to participate in a never-ending bidding war.

The club are still hopeful that they can pull off the transfer, despite Real Madrid’s rejected bid, but after this recent twist in the Julian Alvarez transfer saga, Barca will need to step up their game.

Barca head coach Hansi Flick is in desperate need of a Robert Lewandowski replacement, and the 26-year-old is among the top targets this summer for the Blaugrana.

Julian Alvarez Transfer: Other Teams Interested In The Argentine Striker

There are plenty of teams that are looking at potentially signing the goalscoring machine that is Julian Alvarez.

The likes of Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Liverpool and Bayern Munich have all expressed interest in the striker in the past and are likely to re-enter the market for his signature.

Out of all of the teams, Chelsea are the team that needs a player of Alvarez’s quality in their side, but with no European football, they would likely fall short in the race.

With the summer transfer window heating up and the World Cup around the corner, quality Julian Alvarez performances at the tournament will only elevate his hype and continue the ongoing transfer saga.
