Whilst he is away with Sweden at the 2026 World Cup, the Lucas Bergvall exit talks have been confirmed, with the midfielder unhappy with the number of minutes he has played this season.

The 20-year-old signed for Tottenham Hotspur in July 2024 after an enjoyable spell in his native country. The Swedish international moved to the North London club from Djurgården for a reported fee of £8.5 million.

The Lucas Bergvall exit rumours do not come as much of a shock, as the midfielder featured in only 23 Premier League games and amassed a lowly 966 minutes in the 2025/26 Premier League season.

Beating Barcelona to the midfielder’s signature, having a young talent such as Bergvall potentially leaving the club, will be of some concern for Spurs manager Roberto de Zerbi.

Tottenham have already lost Yves Bissouma as his contract at the club expired, Joao Palhinha, who has returned to Bayern Munich after his loan deal expired, and now, potentially Bergvall.

With the players at Spurs leaving and injuries playing a huge factor, is the Lucas Bergvall exit option the right choice for the 20-year-old, or will he benefit from a new chapter?

Lucas Bergvall Exit: A New Beginning Away From A Relegation Battle

With close to 100 games for Spurs, the Swedish international only managed to play 51 minutes in the last six Premier League games of the 2025/26 season.

Under Roberto de Zerbi, a midfield three of Joao Palhinha, Conor Gallagher and Rodrigo Bentancur was preferred, as Bergvall’s chances were limited.

Since the Lucas Bergvall exit rumours, giants such as Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Arsenal have looked at the possibility of bringing the Swedish midfielder in.

With two relegation battles under his belt, Bergvall is definitely seen as a fighter and an extremely versatile player, as the midfielder can play all across the midfield and also as a left midfielder/ left winger.

The 20-year-old has the opportunity to flourish and develop at teams such as Arsenal or Bayern Munich, with the array of world-class players that will be around him.

A move to Chelsea would definitely not be a bad option for Bergvall; however, with the amount of chaos at the Blues, would the Swede want to jump ships to a team not playing in European competition?

The Lucas Bergvall exit talks have also seen Nottingham Forest intrigued in signing the player, with the Reds looking for an Elliot Anderson replacement as the England international looks close to leaving the club and joining a Premier League giant.

However, with that being said, he has complained about the minutes on the pitch and with a transfer to a giant like Arsenal or Bayern Munich, and even Chelsea, who are all interested in him, the problem for match minutes might continue.

Lucas Bergvall Exit: Chances Of Minutes At Spurs With Players Leaving

Like already mentioned, with Joao Palhinha and Yves Bissouma leaving the club, even with the former in talks to return to the club on a permanent transfer, Bergvall could easily force himself into the Spurs starting XI.

The one thing that the Swede has on his side compared to most of the Tottenham Hotspur midfielders is age.

At only 20, he and Archie Gray are in that age category with the others slightly older and more experienced. That is not to say players like Pape Matar Sarr and Xavi Simons, who are only 23, are limited in their growth, but Bergvall has the chance to be a real difference-maker for Spurs.

Able to play anywhere in the midfield, Bergvall is a player of real quality who can drive at defences but also get his teammates involved with good passing moves.

With that being said, Bergvall has also fallen foul of Spurs’ injury curse and missed a total of 23 matches of the last two seasons alone, with ankle and groin problems.

Spurs are definitely in for another rebuilding project, but will Bergvall be seen as an asset for Spurs boss Roberto de Zerbi, or will he let the 20-year-old talent leave?

Lucas Bergvall Exit: The Asking Price

With an initial market value of £35 million, Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to cash in on their Swedish talent and are asking for around £50 million.

As clubs continue to track the Lucas Bergvall exit talks, teams like Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have appeared as front-runners.

With the summer transfer window in full flow and the 2026 World Cup likely to alter market value, will Spurs part ways with the Swede or can he force his way into Roberto de Zerbi’s plans?
