One of the young sensations of the previous Premier League campaign, the Eli Junior Kroupi injury was sustained following a pre-season training session during AFC Bournemouth’s camp in Austria. The 20-year-old sustained a foot injury that required surgery and is now set to recover and face a spell on the sidelines.

Eli Junior Kroupi, one of the Cherries’ bright young starlets last season, made his Premier League debut and scored 13 goals in 33 games. What was more impressive was the fact that he did not start the 2025/26 season in the starting XI, but as the campaign went on, he became an important figure in AFC Bournemouth’s squad that secured European football.

The Eli Junior Kroupi injury will likely see him miss the start of the Premier League season and could see him out until close to Christmas, as he is expected to be out for at least the next three to four months recovering from the surgery.

With one of AFC Bournemouth’s bright stars on the sidelines, will the Cherries be able to cope without one of their main goalscorers, and will the young Frenchman be able to hit the ground running once he returns?

Eli Junior Kroupi Injury: Out Of Action After A Stellar Debut Premier League Campaign

The start of the Frenchman’s footballing career has seen him meteorically rise to the top as one of the top youth prospects in the Premier League. His 13 goals in the 2025/26 season placed him as the clear top goalscorer at AFC Bournemouth, six goals ahead of the next highest goalscorer, Marcus Tavernier.

His incredible shooting stats saw him finish inside the top 10 Premier League players in terms of goals scored, and show the incredible forward strengths of the 20-year-old, who is listed primarily as a centre-attacking midfielder.

Only three seasons ago, Eli Junior Kroupi was playing for Lorient B, gaining experience in men’s football from a young age. Now, he is showcasing his talents and breaking records as a youngster in the English top flight.

He joined the Cherries in the 2025 winter transfer window, before being loaned back out to Lorient, where he spent a successful 2024/25 season, scoring 22 goals and getting two assists from 30 Ligue 2 matches.

His speed, power and willingness to shoot made him a top asset for the Cherries last term, but with Eli Junior Kroupi injury likely to keep him out for some time, the club will miss one of their bright young sparks in attack.

Eli Junior Kroupi Injury: The AFC Bournemouth Statement

The Eli Junior Kroupi injury will be a painful one for the whole Cherries fanbase, as last season’s top goalscorer will now face three to four months on the sidelines.

In addition to that, clubs from all over Europe were lining up to try and lure the Frenchman from the South Coast, but with the Eli Junior Kroupi injury, it will put most teams off until at least the January transfer window.

In the statement from the official club website, AFC Bournemouth confirmed that Kroupi underwent successful surgery following his foot injury.

The statement reads:

“AFC Bournemouth can confirm that Junior Kroupi has undergone successful surgery after sustaining a foot injury during a pre-season training session in Austria.

“The 20-year-old returned to the UK earlier this week to undergo the procedure and will consequently face a spell on the sidelines.

“Junior will now be supported by the club’s medical and performance staff as he begins a period of rehabilitation.

“Everyone at AFC Bournemouth extends their best wishes to Junior and looks forward to seeing him back on the pitch.”

With their sharp-shooting Frenchman on the sidelines for the near future, can the Cherries still retain their battling mentality without ex-manager Andoni Iraola and without their top goalscorer?
