The Carlos Espi form is quite good for a youngster like him. The 21-year-old Spaniard has started the season well for Real Madrid, and in his debut season for the Los Blancos, the Carlos Espi form means that he is already in focus in the ongoing season. Vinicius Junior’s four-match ban has acted as a blessing in disguise for the young Spaniard, and the Carlos Espi form should mean that he might be able to break into the Real Madrid starting XI.
Carlos Espi Form: The Young Spaniard’s Rise To Prominence
Espi scored 13 goals in only 27 matches for Levante last season, which was also his first season in the Spanish first division. In the current season, Espi has scored three goals in six matches already for Real Madrid, and the goal-scoring form of most of the Real Madrid forwards has not been anything great.
Only Kylian Mbappe shines brightly with nine goals in 10 matches so far this season, with Vinicius Junior, Arda Guler and Yan Diomande having scored a goal each in 10 appearances each for the club this season, as Jude Bellingham has scored three goals in 10 matches. In such a scenario, in Vinicius’ absence, Jose Mourinho might be tempted to make use of the Carlos Espi form by playing him as the centre-forward against Sevilla on Sunday, October 18.
Espi has shown a keen eye for goal, and Real Madrid could do with one such player upfront. Playing Espi, however, will mean that Mbappe will have to start as the left-winger, and it might reduce Mbappe’s efficacy as a goal-scorer, and Mourinho will have to be wary of that. Hence, it remains to be seen whether he decides to entrust Espi with the responsibility of starting as the number nine. The young Spaniard’s rise to prominence since the start of the 2025/26 season, during which he has scored 16 goals in 33 matches, will be complete if he manages to earn a spot in Real Madrid’s starting XI.

Extra Time Notes
The Carlos Espi form means that Los Blancos will have a player to lead the line who is amongst the goals at the moment, even if Mbappe plays on the left flank. Sevilla are a tough team, and Real Madrid cannot afford to drop points against them, given that they are already six points adrift of Barcelona. Barca have been an unstoppable attacking force this season, and even though Real Madrid have scored a lot of goals themselves, their numbers pale in front of the humongous numbers of those of Barcelona.
The form of Diomande, Vinicius and Guler leaves a lot to be desired. Hence, Espi should relish the opportunity to rise to the occasion by performing for the club. The only thing that could potentially stop Mourinho is the fact that Mbappe has been absolutely marvellous for them since he came to the club. However, Mbappe can deliver the performance while playing as a left-winger as well, and his versatility should allow Espi to start as the number nine. Thus, the Carlos Espi form should continue to be a crucial factor in Real Madrid’s progress in the current season.
