Alejandro Garnacho Transfer to Chelsea Makes Little Sense

Alejandro Garnacho seems to be in demand in the transfer market, as both Chelsea and Napoli seem to be interested in signing the 20-year-old Manchester United winger.

Chelsea have reportedly prepared a 60 million GBP bid for the young Argentine, as United rejected the initial offer made by Napoli last week.

Garnacho is into his fourth season at Old Trafford and has scored 23 goals in 118 matches for the Red Devils so far.

He has yet to cement his place in the starting XI of the club but keeps making appearances as a substitute regularly.

Chelsea Have a lot of Options on the Flanks

Chelsea have a plethora of options on the flanks, with Jadon Sancho moving to Stamford Bridge from Manchester United last year.

In addition to Sancho, the Royal Blues have Pedro Neto, Joao Felix, Noni Madueke, Mykhailo Mudryk and Christopher Nkunku, each of whom can play as a winger.

Therefore, Garnacho’s inclusion is going to further strengthen Chelsea’s already-sizeable squad. The justification for this proposed signing is difficult to establish for the West London club, as they seem to have been on a signing spree for quite some time now.

In a nutshell, Manchester United need the young Argentine’s services far more than Chelsea do at the moment. If anything, the Royal Blues have an over-populated squad now and can do without any further additions to it.

Transfer Might Mean Less Game Time for Alejandro Garnacho

Garnacho is already not getting enough game time at United. Signing for Enzo Maresca’s side should mean even less game time for the young Argentine.

As a result, at this stage of his career, a move to Stamford Bridge may not be an ideal one for him.

Manchester United, too, are hard-pressed for quality attacking players in their team. With Marcus Rashford almost sure to leave the club and neither Rasmus Hojlund nor Joshua Zirkzee being among the goal-scorers, the Red Devils do not have enough quality up front.

Hence, the winger’s potential transfer to the London side seems to be in the interest of none of the parties involved. Should it materialize, it might end up damaging his career and also Manchester United’s rebuilding process at the moment.

With manager Ruben Amorim already lamenting about the quality of players at his disposal, it seems quite surprising that United are even considering selling one of their good players.

The club’s supporters will definitely not be happy to let go of one of the promising youngsters in the squad.

Amorim’s Rant About Team Comes at a Crucial Time

Amorim has made his feelings about his team clear in the middle of the January Transfer Window.

With less than two weeks remaining in the window, it should be the proper time for Manchester United to make at least a quality signing. The fact that they are pondering about selling one of their promising players is baffling, to say the least.

Chelsea have never shied away from splashing money in the market, but this is taking things a bit too far.

It hardly seems to be beneficial for the club at the moment.
